Gallagher's going to get called up if he keeps his ERA in the mid 2.00s. Don't agree with it, but it's going to happen.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else. He won't come up till next season.

Bah, Ron. You jinxed Sean! You call his curve Lord Charles and promptly Gallagher gives up a HR. 2-1 West Tenn leads it.

no chance...they have too many guys who are rule V eligible that they have to call up or risk losing. They aren't going to start the clock on Sean when he is 20 and hasn't pitched in AAA at all.

true, but all 3 of those guys are 23, not 20. and none of them were planned to start in the rotation at any point this year without injuries to others.

Marshall and Marmol were already on the 40-man though.

Marshall doesn't have many innings at AA but he won a job in ST (with openings) and was a college draftee who has been considered more advanced. Marmol has logged 150 AA innings last season and this, which makes up for his inexperience relative to the others.

I think they're different situations, don't see why another rookie will be up in September, especially with guys like Ryu and Williams coming up from Iowa. On top of that, when Mateo was promoted, Dusty acknowledged that Sean Gallagher wasn't ready.

My edit beat your post! 8-)

No, I saw the edit. The meaning was different. Dusty asked about Gallagher and was told No.

It isn't looking like a good day down on the farm. Billek lasted 1/3rd and gave up 7 for Boise. Everyone else has either lost or is losing.

Oh, I got it on the re-read. My bad.

Huseby: 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 K. And because texascub didn't like his past GO-FO splits, Chris has a 6-1 GO-FO rate going today.

I recall saying something about Ceda's GO-FO rate, but not Huseby's. It wouldn't surprise me though because I'm skeptical of young pitchers with extreme FO tendencies.

West Tenn is still up and threatening.

And Mesa just got underway in game 2 (it's scoreless in the middle of the 2nd).

Wow, I've been real bad in this thread. You're right, it was Ceda, not Huseby.

I don't believe that Gallagher will be up this year. But next year, who knows. 40-man considerations work against, but big-league needs trump. If Gallagher is pitching well and the big-league rotation continues to flounder, they'll try anybody.

Maybe on winter paper Gallagher may look about 13th on their intended paper depth chart: (1 Z 2-outside pickup 3-outside pickup 4-Prior 5-Miller 6-Marshall 7-Hill 8-Marmol 9-Guzman 10-Mateo 11-Ryu, 12-Rusch 13-Gallagher). But the way things go with the Cubs, injury and ineffectiveness can knock those guys off the ladder pretty fast.

My concern is the high walks. >6 walks/9 IP, and he's got the pitch counts and low innings totals to match. Hard to see much success with that degree of control trouble.

Iowa loses 8-1. Nasvhille loses too, so Iowa remains 2 back.

Peoria lost 5-2.

Boise down 7-0 in the 9th. No one has scored in that game since the top of the first.

Mesa up 2-1 in the 6th inning of game 2: Carrillo: 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K. Andersen is 2 for 2 with a double, his BA is up to .237.

OK, My non-souting report.

-Gallagher was a man amongst boys tonight. He was 90-93 with his fastball which he threw about 80% of the time. Great hard breaking curve ball for Ks and mixed in a few change ups. The umpire did have a huge strike zone tonight though.

-Eric Patterson showed great patience at the plate. He struck out in the first on a real low strike, groused to the ump for a second or two amd walked back to the dugout. The next AB he ripped a single up the middle on the first pitch and then walked twice. The second time on a 3-2 count. The ball was in the same spot as his first k.

- Thomas Atlee closed out the last two innings and dominated the Bay Bears. He was in the mid-90s with his fast ball.

-Ron does a great impression of Harry Carey during the 7th inning stretch.

- The stands were empty, M-T

- Jake Fox gave my wife the eye and I think she liked it.

-Aaron Weston looks like a baseball player but I don't know how good he is.

Other than that no one else stood out on the D-Jaxx. One thing, Brandon Sing was riding the pine and Richard Lewis was at first. I was disapoined.

For Mobile

The catcher #34, Colt Morton crushed a long HR off of Sean in the 6th. He looks like a player.
