Cubs starter Mark Holliman (7-10) pitched well, going 6 1/3 innings. He allowed the home run and scattered five other hits while fanning five and walking a batter.

"I made a big mistake when I got myself in a count that dictated a fastball," Holliman said. "He got a good swing on an OK pitch. It was one of those situations where he knew what was coming and I knew I had to throw it. He won the battle obviously."

Cubs manager Buddy Bailey was more than pleased with Holliman's effort.

"Holliman gave us a really nice outing," Bailey said. ""It was a shame we didn't score any runs for him. When you leave a ballgame when he did and give up one run, that's a tough night."

Sam Fuld is expected off the DL on Monday. Billy Petrick was placed on the Daytona DL.
