No matter how much I watch, the UK soccer announcers using the singular when referring to the team still throws me.

Um, people in America us "they" when they don't know someone's name, all the time.

New words are put into the dictionary on occasion. Where the word used to be considered "illiterate", it can then be called proper. maybe "they" should change the rules since everyone does it. :wink:

I just looked..we've used 6 relievers, and they have thrown 10, 6, 8, 5, 10, and right now Dempster has 15 with 2 outs-talk about short outings.

 

Edit: Oops..obviously all of those are pitch counts.

Brewers take second on defensive indifference.

 

Do the statisticians keep track of offensive indifference? I think the Cubs would be among the league leaders.
