This from cbs.sportsline:

"Because Boston is not willing to give up its young pitchers, the team has made Coco Crisp and Trot Nixon available in order to find a fifth starter, says the Boston Herald."

Coco for Maddux, anyone?

Rather keep Pierre.

Why? Crisp is younger, is good for a better OBP and OPS than Pierre, and has a better arm in center field.

IF the ARam rumors are true, package Pierre with him and get back more. I think ARam and Pierre to Anaheim would net a nice package.

maddux is not going to the east coast or the american league.

He's already approved a trade to the Mets... and last time I checked, they are on the East Coast.

All Pierre needs to do is throw to the cut-off man.

Ho would Maddux deliever Crisp when ot ook Marte earlier this season?

Boston is saying they'd deal him for a 5th starter, that's how. I don't really know what else you're looking for in a response. Not saying it makes a ton of sense, just saying that Boston has made Coco available for a 5th starter, according to the Boston Herald.

Please tell me that was a joke. He's got a horrendous arm in center field, and runners take advantage of it frequently. Very limited perspective to say that all he has to do is hit the cutoff man. When you catch the ball 30 feet behind 2nd base and runners still score on you, your arm hurts the team.

Didnt Pierre win a championship with his bad arm in CF? I dont see how Crisp will make a difference? Because he hits more HR? Give me a break. There are other problems on this team that more concerning than Pierre's arm.

link? seriously. i know when he was a free agent he said he didn't like new york and he didn't like the american league. i have yet to see an article where he approved a trade to the mets. everything i've seen says that as much as he likes to play golf with glavine, he doesn't like it enough to do it in new york.

Just as an aside, they both have poor arms. Coco is good at chasing down flies, but he has one of the worst arms in center field. So, he probably isn't an upgrade in this area.

Nonetheless, Boston will not trade Coco for Maddux. They apparently approach the White Sox with an offer of Coco for one of the White Sox starters, all of which are better than Maddux and are more than a 2 month rental.

I think Crisp has more of an upside than Pierre, but as it stands now they're fairly similar players and whoever said it, they are correct - Crisp has a very weak arm.

I don't think Maddux would go to Boston and I don't think Boston would necessarily want him, but if the following deal was on the table, I would do it if I were the Cubs:

Maddux and Pierre for Crisp and possibly a mid level prospect

I'd take Nixon though.

Isn't Nixon a FA at the end of the year. I'd rather trade Maddux for youth.

Old Atlanta teammate Tom Glavine, now with the playoff-bound Mets, has been lobbying to get Maddux in New York, and maybe Maddux has changed his mind about pitching there if he could be in a pennant race with his good friend.

Not indisputable proof, but since Maddux and Hendry both have very little to say about specific teams and offers it is about as good as you are going to get.

east cost maybe...... AL..definately not. of the teams listed in his limited NTC as teams he would accept a trade to some are in contention... and all are in the NL

From cbs.sportsline:

"According to the Chicago Tribune, Greg Maddux told the Cubs he would waive his no-trade clause if he can be moved to a contender. Maddux also said he would be willing to be traded to the New York Mets, a team that was once believed to be off limits."

It seems Epstein will want a bit more than just Maddux.

I had no idea that Epstein asked for Buerhle in return for Crisp. I'm guessing he just was trying to slip one by Kenny Williams while Buerhle has been struggling. If he really believes Crisp is worth that much then Crisp probably will remain on the Red Sox for the playoff run.
