per rotoworld, and the actual game ;) :

Ricky Nolasco - S - Marlins

Ricky Nolasco picked up a win while throwing 7 1/3 scoreless innings against the Phillies tonight.

The right-hander held a no-hitter for 6 2/3 innings, but Abraham Nunez's chopper off Nolasco's glove in the seventh ended the bid. That was the only hit Nolasco gave up tonight, although he did walk five batters. The right-hander has given up just one run over his last three outings, but he's still a risky play against the Mets next time out. Jul. 28 - 10:54 pm et

We've had a # of good SP prospects for awhile. Atleast we've kept some of the good ones in the NL East too.

Fixed.

Huh?

Shouldn't you have changed kept -to- sent? Is that what you are trying to say?

No it seems like we keep all of our decent pitching prospects in the NL East. I like to think of the NL East as our pitching farm; they hold on to the good ones for us, and when they're past their prime the get put out to pasture and sent back to Chicago.

Imagine a rotation of Zambrano, Marshall, Marmol, Nolasco, and Prior.

Dang, that rotation looks good now.

Really doesn't look that great. Why? because the 3 rookie pitchers are still going to have bumps and bruises. You really don't want 3 like that all at once. Now if we were going to say, we are not competing in 2007 only developing. I agree that looks great. I'd rather have. .

Zambrano

Schmidt

Marmol

Marshall

Prior

I think Marmol could handle the #3 spot next year. And I am not ready to rely on prior until he proves to me next year he can be here IN APRIL, and pitch all the way until October.

Well, they wouldn't be rookies in 2007. Anyways, that rotation would be the youngest in baseball. But if it worked out, we would have the resources to keep them around for quite a while.

Anyways, we don't have Nolasco anymore, so replace his spot with that of a FA pitcher, hopefully Schmidt.

IF is not something I want to take a chance on. We've had enough IF's we've suffered through, with Wood and Prior, wouldn't you agree? Anyway it's a mute point with nolasco because he's in florida now. But I don't think anyone here can say they don't want Jim Hendry to go out and get one calibur starting pitcher. Add him to Mr. Ace Zambrano. And 2 very promising and stable looking Marshall and Marmol. And for the first time in a few years, we can say, these are our guys, and they'll be pitching the whole year.

I would really like to give Wood another shot if the deal is for 3 million or less after the Cubs pay his buyout. With the health the Cubs staff have had over the last few years having Wood slotted as the sixth option for your rotation is needed.

Agreed but I think another team out there (I've said the Yankees for a while now) will give him more guaranteed money than the Cubs will give him and potentially a guaranteed multiyear deal.

they showed a graphic on Sportscenter of his last 3 starts. 1 ER in 21 2/3 innings for an ERA of like 0.42.

At least we have Rusch!

If we keep Wood around, I hope we use him as a closer.

I dont think Prior can be depended on anymore. I'm on the Hendry better sign a formidable number 2 SP next season or '07 will be very much like '06.

He did just pitch 6+ no-hit innings last time, and he's rusty. I still think he can live up to his billing.
