DJAXX, is there a way for you to contact someone in the Cubs' organization or Daytona radio broadcast team that might have some insight on the dramatic turnaround Harvey has had the past couple of weeks?

Interestingly enough, here is the poll question on the Daytona Cubs website.

What would you most like to see at Jackie Robinson Ballpark this season?

A Cub hit four home runs in one game?

A Cubs player hit for the cycle?

A perfect game by a Cubs pitcher?

A triple play turned by the Cubs?

The four home run option placed in third place behind perfect game and triple play respectively.

Harvey in July (I think...it could be messed up because of the continued game a few days ago): .322/.337/.689. 28 Ks to 2 BBs, though...

Harvey has hit 4 home runs tonight and drove in six, not sure if the last was a walk off in the 9th but Daytona won in the 9th!!!

Yup, it was a walk-off with one out in the inning and first base open. I wonder if they would have walked him if there was a second out.

Tyco with another hit tonight extending his streak to 11 games.

Over his last 10 games, Tyler has hit .444 (20-for-45). He has scored in 9 out of those 10 games for a total of 17 runs. He has a XBH in 8 out of those 10 games for a total of 8 doubles, 2 triples and 2 HRs. Thats a SLG of .844. He has walked twice and struckout twice in those 45 ABs and has driven in 13 runs while getting an RBI in 8 of those 10 games.

Over his last 16 games, he is batting .412 and has raised his average 142 points not including tonight's game.

Peoria won 4-3 :) After Samardzija, Rayborn went an inning and a third, allowing 3 hits and 1 ER. Koerber got the win as he pitched 2/3's of an inning, walking one and striking out one. Avery got his 12th save of the season as he pitched the 9th, only allowing 1 walk and striking out 2. Ryan Norwood was 1/4 with a homer and 2 RBI's. Davy Gregg was 2/4 with a stolen base and a run scored. Robinson Chirinos was 1/4 with a double and a run scored. Jesus Valdez went 1/3 with an RBI and Kyle Reynolds was also 1/3.

Boise now down 3-0 in the 6th. Jimenez Angulo gave up 3 runs in 5 and a third.

Iowa up 6-1 in the 4th.

Mesa is scoreless in the 2nd.

Guzman gives up back-to-back doubles and then a single to leadoff the 5th. He's not as sharp tonight and for the second start in a row, his Ks are down (just 1 so far).

Another hit for Colvin, his 2nd on the night, to raise his average to .325.

Including his first 3 ABs of tonights game and going back 17 games now, he is batting .423 (30-for-71) and has raised his average 151 points.

What is the thinking on promoting him in the midst of this hot streak? He is on a winning ball club, Boise is currently in 1st place, he is experiencing success and he is age appropriate for the NWL. I would only disrupt his flow and move him to Peoria if I felt it was likely that he would start next season in Daytona.

Harvey still needs to walk more and K less. But his power is definitely coming around, and his hitting in general as well...4 homeruns in a game

That takes some sick power

Wilton Chavez is now pitching for the Iowa. Remember him? This makes the trade for Jose Macias look even better!!!

You ain't kiddin'. His inability to select the right pitches to swing at is really holding him back. Unless he improves there, all the 4 HR games in the world at the High A level won't make him a major league quality hitter.

I suspect he knows this, though...

Jeff Francouer still doesn't.

Chalk up another one for Tyco. That's 3 on the evening to raise his average to .331.

Ah, heck, send him to Peoria. I'm not sure how much more he has to prove at this level. He's hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games and has an 11-game hitting streak.

There a difference in knowing you need to improve your K/BB ratio and having the ability to do it. I'm willing to bet that if you asked Francouer if he felt he could improve on that area of his game, he would say that he definitely needs to.

As far as comparing what Francouer is doing at the major league level to what Harvey might be able to do there, at the High A level, Francouer struckout 70 times in 334 ABs. At Low A, he struckout 68 times in 524 ABs. Harvey's numbers unfortunately pale in comparison. At High A, Ryan has struckout 100 times in 359 ABs. And last year at Low A, he struckout 137 times in 467 ABs.

It doesn't look good for Ryan unless he can show remarkable improvement in his strike zone judgement. I think he can do it, though the odds are likely against him at this point.

His defense has also been pretty good too from what I hear. He's had something like 3 or 4 OF assists I believe, and he's also made a number of spectacular catches lately. And the fact that he seems to be doing well in CF is also very good.

DaytonaCubs.com[/url]"]Harvey stands alone in Florida State League history as the only player to ever his four homers in one game. Harvey has now raised his season total to 16 bombs after the 4/5 day at the plate to go with 66 RBI.

If Harvey's season ended today, it would at least match Dopirak's FSL season.

Faint praise, but Harvey does have a chance to improve on that from here on out.

I know this is anecdotal, but I did see him play in Peoria fairly often last season. As I've said, when he gets locked in, seeing him hit is a thing of beauty. That's when you wonder why he can't do it more consistently.

Hopefully he's figuring out something that will help him out at the plate long-term.
