Glad it wasn't a more serious injury (though it looked plenty painful); he was limping pretty badly as he left the field Saturday.

Jackals.com[/url]"]PAVLIK SOLD TO CUBBIES

Little Falls, NJ – The New Jersey Jackals announced today the selling of Isaac Pavlik’s contract to the Chicago Cubs organization. He will report with the Cubs’ High Single-A affiliate Daytona Cubs.

Pavlik, a Seton Hall graduate, and Rutherford native, was originally drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th round of the 2002 draft. He then spent three productive seasons with organization. In his first season, with Single-A Tri-City, Pavlik pitched in 27 relief appearance, posting tremendous numbers. He went 5-1 with an ERA of 1.13. Even more impressive, Pavlik struck out 32 batters in just as many innings pitched. After his stint with the Rockies organization, Pavlik became an opponent of the New Jersey Jackals by joining the Bangor Lumberjacks.

In 2005, Pavlik joined the Jackals and was an integral part of the pitching staff. He finished second in strikeouts with 100 in 102 innings pitched, earning him an All-Star Game appearance in July. He finished the season 7-5 with an impressive 3.09 ERA, which was third in the Can-Am League.

This season Pavlik put up All-Star numbers once again with a 6-2 record with a 2.86 ERA in 9 starts. He is currently tied for first in both wins and strikeouts with 65.

“It is hard to see him leave the Jackals. He has been a vital part of our pitching staff.” Jackals Manager Joe Calfapietra commented. “We wish him the best of luck with the Cubs organization.

“Pavlik is an amazing baseball player and he is an example of what Independent baseball is all about.”

Does anyone know when Isaac Pavlik joined West Tenn?

I'm just curious because he pitched at Seton Hall the year I worked there. The guy is a 5'7 lefty that throws low 90s. I remember he was drafted by the Rockies, but I didn't really hear much about him after that. I doubt he's considered much of a prospect these days, since he's 26, but I'm just curious when the Cubs picked him up.

As a side note, his nickname was "Flea", not only because of his height, but because he also somewhat resembles Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
