There's still 11 days left. I think it'll start getting pretty heated over the weekend. Plus, there have a good amount of names thrown around (Abreu, Burrell, Maddux, Williamson, Soriano, Livan Hernandez, Dontrelle, Walker, Westbrook, etc.) altough most are just "Team A shows interest in Player B".

I heard it was pretty slow last year to. Someone here said Lawton was one of the biggest "splashes" last year. You just notice it more this year because the cubs suck so much, and you are desperate to see SOMETHING baseball related.

Does anyone think they should move the trading deadline back? I mean, now that we have had a few years to see the effect that the wildcard has on the race, trades have really been slowing down. Even moving it back 15 days would cause more teams to fall out of the race and be more willing to deal. Of course, teams might hold on to and get even less for players who contracts run out at the end of the year, but that is their decision to wait until the deadline to trade them anyway.

That baffling part about our relievers is that we could literally plunder a team's farm system for either Howry or Eyre; but Hendry won't trade 'em. Lost in this season has been the reliability and performance of those guys. Granted, I would hate to lose two guys like that- but, with so many teams in, or on the cusp of contention, those guys would be enough to put a team over the edge.

 

Then we could just run continue Novoa out there until he has a career-ending injury.
