I looked everyone on the board and didn't see this anywhere. Sorry if I missed it!!

So, I was out doing a little pre-birthday celebrating last night, and when I glanced up at the TV I saw that Maddux was willing to waive his no-trade clause. Did I see this correctly? Couldn't find anything else that had the story, but I am positive I saw that.

Once again, I apologize if this is somewhere and I just missed it.

Not sure what you saw on TV, but Maddux doesn't have a NTC, he just has a handshake agreement that Hendry will consult him and get approval on any trade. So did he said he'd be willing to accept a trade to a contender? If so, I guess I'm not really surprised. If he can pitch 2-3 months for a contender and get another shot at a WS ring rather than toil along with this bottom-feeding group, I don't blame him.

That said, given his contract & his outings since April, I'm not sure who would want his services or how much help he would be.

He didn't say he wanted to be traded to a contender. He assumes that if he is traded, it will most likely be to a contender. Who else trades for a pitcher in the last year of his contract at the trade deadline?

He was just giving the typical "I love it here and I hope to be here all year" company line.

Maybe somebody has the link, but it was reported 2-3 weeks ago that he does in fact have a NTC.

i don't think maddux is traded by the deadline. with all due respect to maddux, i just don't see how a team in the pennant race could trade ANYTHING for a guy who is 40 years old, an era either above or close to 5 and has a 7-10 record. how much is he owed for the rest of the year? 3-4 million? i dunno...i don't see it happening.

Maddux's 3 year splits (03-05) have his post All-Star ERA at 3.45, as opposed to 4.61 pre All-Star. I think there are several teams who would jump at the chance to have him in the backend of their rotation during a playoff push, taking a chance on Maddux having a strong 2nd half.

According to Jason Stark on Sportscenter this morning the Dodgers are calling all the time asking about Maddux. He mentioned several other teams also but made special note of the Dodgers.

I definetly think that Maddux is going to be gone. I hope he can get us at least a b list prospect.

Any chance they want to unload J.D. Drew?

If not, how about Maddux for Eithier?

Could tonight be the last game with Maddux in a cub uniform?

But STL and NYY are willing to add Jeff Weaver and Sidney Ponson? I think Maddux will be traded, I don't think we'll get much in return but if he wants to go to LA and try to win then by all means go for it.

They really want pitching in LA. Since they have a plethora of outfielders, they might be willing to part with Kemp since he is back in AAA. But, at this point I don't think Eithier will be going anywhere unless they're completely blown away by an offer. But, I really like Eithier also. Even for Kemp, Williamson might need to be included with Maddux.
