REM. To me these guys were the anti-rock of my generation. Its not that they sucked, they put out some good songs. I just hated them. Michael Stipe danced like a total wimp. I mean cmon, who didnt want to knock him out after seeing him dance on those videos? Rock Gods do not dance like him. Strike one. Michael Stipe was waay to political for my taste, everything was a cause, how bout rockin out brother, nobody cares what you think. Strike Two. Shiny Happy People??? Strike Three....He gone.

Jimi all the way on this one.

Marginalizing REM's career by citing Shiny Happy People would be like me marginalizing The Clash's career by citing Should I Stay or Should I Go.

Bad draw for REM. Voted for Hendrix obviously. Not sure how he got in best band. What happened to the Experience after Hendrix died. Did either Redding or the other guy whos name slips my mind now have any kind of music career after Hendrix. I love Jimmy but this is certainly a solo act if I have ever seen one

Probably almost as bad as the outrage for Tom Petty has been.

well I would argue that Tom Petty doesn't rock that much more than CSNY, whom people have repeatedly say don't belong in a rock tourney

REM trasitioned into the VH1-yuppie-minivan-soccer-mom demographic way too easily, not that it ever surprised me. I admit they do what they do very well, which is to provide a thoroughly safe non-threatening way for people to feel slightly rebellious and in touch with their youth.

American Girl has more rock than all of CSNY's hits combined.

TP & H are definitely a rock band and belong in this tourney!

this is slightly off topic but

have you ever wondered if they should make a Walk the Line type movie about Hendrix. I was dreaming about it recently, and now i can't stop thinking about it.

Yeah i know im lame.

Or, in my case, Bob Dylan.
