The Evil Stoney said yesterday that the Dodgers would be a team that has interest and $$$ to deal for ARam. He said that Bill Mueller won't be back and that Ned Colletti may be looking to acquire an impact 3rd baseman. He felt that Cesar Izturis is being dangled, but it would take more young Dodger players to get ARam. Stoney said a Cedeno/Izturis infield is one that 'lasts for 10 years'. He also mentioned that Maddux could wind up in LA too. He felt Nevin and Todd Walker would be traded.

I heard some dope on the radio suggest this on the way to work this morning. Not only is it a stupid trade because we don't have a 3B, but if we wanted to trade Aramis (which I don't unless we're getting an IMPACT player back) we could do much better than Izturis.

cedeno for aram?? are the cubs trading with themselves now? this team is screwed up!

Your mom :(

I totally meant izturis

Stone is off his rocker.

Cedeno/Izturis middle infield will only work on a team that actually has above average corner outfield production, and this deal strips one of the power sources in the lineup as well with no replacement.

Wasn't there another (equally ridiculous) trade that Stone proposed earlier this year or in the off-season that involved Ramirez?

The FA market for a 3B isn't exactly brimming with impact players after the season. Unless Hendry has a deal in place for another 3B, ARod please!, trading ARam isn't going to help this team for next year.

i think he suggested aram for manny and bill mueller a couple seasons ago. and to stone's credit, the cubs would at least be getting a good hitter back.

It was just a joke. I wasn't trying to actually misrepresent what you typed. I think everyone knows you didn't say that. If it really bothers you that much, I can fix it.

Kemp and Billingsley, plz.

How much would we have to give up for them though? I'd be willing to give up ARam, Murton, and any one of the young pitchers except Marmol and I don't think that'd be enough to get it done.

it's statements like these that cause me to ignore whatever stone says about anything anymore.

until cedeno learns that striking out is not the end of the world, he's going to be average, and izturis is absolutely terrible, just terrible.

this team's problem is that it can't get on base or score runs and stone thinks it can be fixed by bringing in izturis? what stupidity, stone has lost his mind--even brenly offers more accurate insight into the game.

stoney should stick to talking aboout how bad wood's mechanics are.

The Cubs don't have what it takes to get them (outside of Lee and Z).

Sounds like the Cubs--trade a player while his value is at its lowest.

Still, if Hendry could rely/argue in favor of his past performance, the Dodgers may be a good partner, as well as the Angels. At the very least, the Cubs could slide Nevin to 3B until the offseason.

Izturis for Ramirez? Oh boy, where do I sign......?

Two words: Eric Patterson.

We don't need another Nefti Perez on this team, and trading the OTHER legitimate POWER threat for a useless utility player, is definately the Cubs M.O. The Cubs SHOULD not entertain any trade offers for ARam, especially from the Dodgers for anything less then Kemp/Billingsley or Joel Guzman.

Stone's mere suggestion that such a trade would be a good one is reason enough to never, ever consider him for a GM position.
