STOP OBSESSING ABOUT THE WHITE SOX

Yep. It has gone way too far.

I am not. With the Cubs miserably sucking the only thing preventing me from going insane is when the teams I hate don't win. If the Cubs were winning, I could care less what was going on on the South Side.

Can you make your avatar any bigger?

Thanks in advance.

seriously, are we just now rooting for them because they have the best record in baseball? how lame can you get?

I'm mainly rooting for them because they've been collecting thousands of dollars from me every year since 2001 for some pretty horrific baseball.

Yes, we know White Sox fans have an anti-ESPN agenda, just like they have an anti-Jay Mariotti agenda, and an anti-Cubs agenda.

I'm actually an anti-Give credit to a manager for a rapid turnaround he had little-to nothing to do with. Leyland overmanages more than TLR, Dusty, Ozzie, and any other "old school" manager combined.

Most managers don't have anything to do with how a team performs in baseball. It's more the talent. Ozzie got his time on ESPN when the White Sox won the World Series, so I wouldn't be bitching.

I never said anything to the contrary, but I am a Sox fan, so civilized discourse is impossible.

Also, does anyone think they'll fall apart? I just can't see how this will keep up, but many said that about the Sox and they just got all the breaks. Maybe it's their year.

Really, And I thought we were so Pro-ESPN and Pro-mariotti. And you always come off as so Pro-sox.

Yes, but White Sox fans have some sort of anti-agenda that they make a priority to hate on these things. We don't. We may not like ESPN or Mariotti, but we don't complain every day about them like Sox fans do.

But we (by we i mean you) do complain about the white sox and their fans every day. You remember we root for the CUBS here, right?

Yes, I root for the Cubs, but I only complain about the Sox when fans bring it up. If you didn't bring them up, you'd see.

I don't think they'll fall apart. If anyone falters down the strecth, I think it will be the White Sox b/c the starters will run out of gas, and the bullpen will be underworked due to all the innings the starters are eating.

As a previous poster said, I like the Tigers because it's a huge turnaround, they're young and easy to root for, and the history of the team is impressive.

On one hand im happy for their success on the other hand they piss me off. It totally pissed me off going to the Cubs/Tigers game and hearing the fans of Detroit. I cant wait for the day the Cubs play at Detroit and invade Comerica.

Detroit has been awful for a long time so good for them. They are totally packing Comerica. Sure they might be bandwagoners but at least they get it some what. It took the White Six like 130 games to finally fill that stadium and they were a World Champion in the making. Tiger fans at least have some foresight and want to enjoy this now and arent waiting for the playoffs to buy tickets.

I dont hate them yet......until i start catching crap around here about how good they are and how sucky the Cubs are. Then i will hate them again.

Most every pitcher has been on a very strict 110 pitch count the entire season. The whole staff is known for being innings eaters, so it's not an anamoly.

Keep in mind that the Sox are 5-1 vs. the Tigers, and that the Sox have a better pitching staff (debatable, I guess) and a much better lineup.

Um, yeah, and we've owned the Cardinals and look where that's gotten us. It'll take a lot more than owning the Tigers to win the division.

Yeah and the Sox have done a lot more than own the Tigers, evident by the 2nd best record in MLB.

You're comparing apples and oranges. The Cubs have beaten the Cardinals in recent years, but have faltered against other teams. Like Flamez said, they've done a lot against more than just the Tigers, plus there's no doubt in my mind they are the better team. They're 5-1 and still have 3-4 (?) series left with them.

i went to two of the cubs-tigers games at wrigley, and there were lots of tiger fans there who were big jerks, so i pretty much hate that team.

Every single team has fans that are jerks so that is no reason to dislike a team. You just so happened to run into Tigers fans that were jerks. If you would have ran into friendly Tigers fans I'm guessing you would be singing a completely different tune right now.

No team's fans can be more bandwagon than the Florida Marlins in 2003. The Marlins fans didn't show up until September. I realize that they didn't have the best record in the league and the Tigers do, but Detroit in 2003 averaged more fans (17103) than the Marlins in 2003 (16290) even though the Tigers lost 119 games.

You can combine both of the excellent points. The initial thread post:

51-25, best record in MLB, .671 winning pct.

right now 1 game up on the White Sox.

I hope the Tigers keep winning and keep the White Sox in 2nd place!!

Remembering what you post on the board is important because other people surely will. This is doubly true for the same thread. I guarantee you will get called out when you flipflop in the same thread.

I thought the "Go Tigers, Go" chant started at Wrigley field when they were up 10-3 in the ninth was a bit over the top. I turned and asked the Tiger fans to show a little class.

Surprisingly, they stopped chanting, and a couple of them actually apologized.

I was pleasantly surprised.

What's wrong with chanting at a rival's field? I didn't see any Cubs fans pulling punches when we took over Turner Field at the 2003 NLDS.

It was something I personally did not care for - especially when it really was no contest. That's just me. Could be ok with you, and that's fine. Just not my cup of tea.

So they made Wrigley Field Comerica Park South?? So what?? IN 2003, we made Turner Field Wrigley Field South. I have no problems with fans turning an enemies ballpark (other team) into their own.

It's more fun when you have a nice mix of fans from both teams in attendance. Baseball is better when more teams "travel well."

Or like how Milwaukee is known as Chicago north.
