How in the world is this a professional baseball team. Dusty needs to go so bad. I cannot believe how inept this team is at doing things that are just considered playing the game the right way. Nobody uses cut off men, baserunning is a disaster, and the worst thing possible is the horrible approach both offensively and pitching. People can say what they want about that being the job of the Larry and Cline/Sarge, but in the end it should come down to Dusty. I'll be at the game Friday proudly wearing a fire Dusty shirt.

I agree that Dusty should go but you tell me how these same guys will be better with another manager? The players are fundamentally flawed (and so is the organizational model because they continue to chase guys that aren't good baseball players).

I agree with you man. This team is very poorly put together, but at the same time a new manager might actually get on guys that continually make the same stupid mistakes. Who knows they might even put a guy on the bench for poor performance. When a young guy like Theriot is up maybe he will actually get a chance to play. I don't at all think a new manager is going to somehow make this team contend, but at least we'll have something to look forward to as we rebuild with a group of coaches that might actually understand the game of baseball as opposed to this group that just likes to have fun and be the good guys that the players like.

Marmol and Marshall are better than Hill, when in reality I don't think any of those three guys stand out above each other.

At least Marmol and Marshal has shown some sort of talent and poise. Hill has no poise, walked the world, and just was flat out awful with a 9 ERA.

So the Maddux thing doesn't apply to Hill I'm guessing?

Don't give me that.

Hill's been yanked back and forth between the minors and majors as well as starting and relief. Hill was only given four starts this season before being kicked back down to AAA. Any number of pitchers can have four bad starts for pete's sake.

These three guys have plenty of promise and talent. But why people rag on Hill so much while Marmol and especially Marshall remain sacred cows is just baffling to me.

See, this tirade is why I don't want Bob Brenly managing the Cubs.

So all they need is Derrek Lee calling a team meeting and calling out people for their mistakes?

No, they need Brenley as manager calling out their mistakes.

Tigers have just beaten the Cardinals 4-1 to complete the sweep.

This frustrates me even more because if Hendry did his job the Cubs would have been in contention while waiting for Prior and possibly Wood. It's time ....way past time for a sweeping change.

I thought that one of Bobs "qualities" was that he was a players manager? That is fine if he can call out mistakes too and make the players accountable.

It drives me nuts seeing how bad the rest of the Central is. A better-assembled Cubs team with better managing, some health, and some luck could have been running away and hiding with the division lead by now.

But instead, we get this. Guh.

No, he's saying that the players are ultimately responsible for their own actions. The manager can only do so much (he certainly can not hit, pitch, or field for them). He did mention that it's the manager's responsibility to get them prepared...

CUBS are 16-14 when they allow fewer than 4 walks.... 12-31 when they don't

Go CUBS !!

How many pitches is Marshall at Fred?

94

Thanks Blue. I'm glad Baker took him out even though I think it was a batter too late. Yeah he got the K but his mechanics changed as did the pitches.

the cubs really need to start limiting marshall's innings. whether that means putting him on strict pitch count or skipping him when they get the chance, it needs to happen. he's never thrown more than 100 innings in a season, and he's on pace to go well over that. and he's really sucked his last three times out.

I have no problem with Hill coming up and see what he can do. You might as well see if he can compete in the Majors. I'm just saying I haven't seen anything that would make me believe he can be a good ML Starter, while Marmol and Marshall have.
