...who would be VERY happy to see Dusty gone.

I don't listen to WSCR or WMVP, but a friend of mine said they were tossing this about during a show today.

Who do you think those six guys are?

My guesses:

1) Walker (easy one, I know)

2) Murton (almost as easy as Walker)

3) Maddux (he's smart and classy - he knows a dufus when he sees one)

4) Juan Pierre ??? (performance speaks volumes)

5) Glendon Rusch ???? (performance speaks volumes)

6) Ramirez???? (performance speaks volumes)

Neifi (tired of having Dusty kiss his butt)

Why would Rusch hate him? Rusch has to love Dusty, since Dusty is the only idiot out there that would keep starting Rusch.

I would think Barrett, and Walker would be easy. I think Eyre, Dempster, Howry, and one of Wood/Prior/Maddux.

Reasons are;

Barrett - Thrown under the bus after the AJ punching incident.

Walker - Is tired of being told he takes to many walks.

Eyre, Dempster, and Howry because of complaints I have read and heard in the media when it comes to useage patterns.

Wood/Prior/Maddux because of issues with how they have been used/abused.

one of Wood/Prior/Maddux.

I would guess Prior. Part of that is based on my perceptions of his personality, but I'm also thinking of the rumors about his reputation within the organization. I can definitely see Dusty hassling Prior if Dusty sees him as soft.

i don't understand. did the radio station say that they have a source who says 6 cubs hate dusty baker? or was it more "if you had to choose 6 cubs who you think hate dusty, who would they be?"

I'm wondering the exact same thing.

I didn't hear the spot, but apparently, one (or more) of the on-air guys has been told by a source close to the team that this situation exists. The on-air conversation centered around host and the callers trying to guess which guys are disgruntled with the Dustmaster.

If true, it is interesting that the so-called "player's coach" would have so much dissent.

I mean, there's no way that everyone would like him (does everyone at your job like the boss?), but really it is interesting to find out if this discontent is causing divisiveness in the clubhouse.

This term rankles me more than any other in describing Dusty. He was allowed ample opportunities to play mediocre veterans in San Francisco because of the giant shadow cast by Barry Bonds. You put a pre-2003 Barry in our lineup and it improves exponetially.

However when you don't have one of the greatest players in history to fall back on and cover any mistakes you make as a manager, this is what you're left with.

Personally, I'm surprised it's only six players that are disgruntled with Dusty. I would thought it was the entire pitching staff at the very least (minus Rusch).

Pierre and Rusch have no reason to hate Dusty. Without Dusty, they wouldn't have jobs...

How do you know that? He might be playing Pierre because upper management says to play him. Rusch, I can't explain away....

I know, Hendry says that Dusty makes the calls on the field, but it is possible that the higher-ups want Pierre to play to see how their (poor) investment pans out.

I would not be surprised in the least if a significant number of players disliked Dusty. These guys know baseball, and they have to know basic strategy. Dusty does not, and it shows. Plus, the clubhouse has been terrible since 2004. They tried to fix it by getting rid of so-called bad apples, but you can't fix a screwed up clubhouse by trading a personality or two. The manager continually handicaps his own team with terrible moves, and the players are sick of seeing it. Guys like Rusch, Perez, Bynum etc probably don't mind, because it means more playing time for them.

Regardless, Pierre has no reason to hate Dusty. And it's highly doubtful that Dusty is being forced to play the guy. Dusty openly supports him all the time. And he plays him everyday. If he didn't want Pierre playing, he'd find more days to sit him and he'd dropped him in the order when he does play. Pierre and Dusty are clearly on the same page.

Walker, Barrett, Prior, Wood, Maddux, and.......

Aramis. The other day when Dusty was on the Hot List, Brian Kenny asked when the real Juan Pierre would show up. Dusty immediately threw Aramis's name out there.

Even given the remote chance that he's being told to play Pierre, Dusty still makes out the lineup that has him leading off EVERY DAY.

Good point. OK, you've all convinced me that Pierre is not on the list.

I highly doubt Dusty would allow Hendry or any of the higher ups to dictate what he does on the field. He does not seem like the type that would bow to pressures from the GM regarding who plays when and where.

BTW Gus, when did you attend SIU? I was there from 77-81.

87-91, BS Accountancy....like baseball, it appeals to my meticulous nature.

It would not shock me if several guys dislike hi mnow based on his insistence on trotting out guys like Neifi and Bynum when guys like Nevin, Walker and Murton are available.

As other's have said, I really don't know why Pierre and Rusch would want Baker gone. They are lucky to be playing.

If I was to guess:

Walker

Maddux

Zambrano's arm

Prior

Wood

The only reason I leave Murton off is because he is a "rookie" and probably wouldn't have the balls to say he wanted Baker gone, even if it was "off the record". I would also consider Nevin (to get more PT) or maybe Hairston (if this dates back pre-trade).

This is obviously just a complete freaking guess and none of us really knows (if it's even true at all).

I can see all of them disliking each other, because they are losing. I don't think the dislikes are exclusive to the manager, but we will never know.
