Very deserved:

.765 Avg (13-17), .789 OBP, 1.176 SLG

Randy Wells didn't get SL Pitcher of the Week, but he had to have been considered. Let's compare the line from Wells to Joel Hanrahan, who did receive the award:

Hanrahan:

2-0, 13 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 8 BB, 13 K's

Wells:

2-0, 13 IP, 8 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 11 K's

Not a bad week.

Is this the Blue Jays former 1st round draft pick that was added to the 40 man roster?

Who is Negron?

From a past Bruce Miles article:

Minor matters: The Cubs have claimed center fielder Miguel Negron off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays organization and optioned him to Class AA West Tenn. Negron, 23, is on the 40-man roster.

At Class AA New Hampshire, Negron batted .215 with a low on-base percentage of .266. He had 2 homers and 12 RBI. In 130 at-bats, Negron had 9 walks and 25 strikeouts.

Who is Negron?

Was in the Jays system, we claimed him a month or so ago.

BA Chat[/url]"]Q: Sam the Cat from Kennesaw Georgia asks:

Miguel Negron was suppose to be more talented then Alexis Rios, however, He has stalled out at High A. Was it because of his attitude? Or the tools were not there?

A: Michael Levesque: Negron has one of the best tools packages in the Jays system but has yet to develop the skills to fully utilize them.

Negron is LH, turns 24 later this summer, has now lifted his season average up to .270, his OBP is up in the .320's, and I think his OPS is now bumped up over .700. Still pretty mediocre, but you never know.

Going into 2005, Negron was rated as having the best of the following tools in the Blue Jays system:

Best Athlete

Fastest Baserunner

Best Defensive Outfielder

Best Outfield Arm

if he keeps this up maybe the cubs will trade pierre & give him a shot at cf. when pagan gets back they could split time there.

Why? Baker still would have "The Veteran" John Mabry on the roster.
