Well, Prior's velocity is indeed a concern.

Yeah not good. Wasnt wood around this too when he rehabed? Wood today was throwing hard, maybe Prior can follow his path of success.

If I remember correctly, Wood's velocity in his start at Peoria was around 93-94 mph.

I think you're correct. Wood was slower in his following Iowa start, which was cold and rainy.

I just don't know that Prior can get extended out pitch-wise and get velocity back over the course of 3 rehab starts, which seemed to be the original plan.

Prior's day is done.

2 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 0 BB's, 3 K's, 1 HR allowed.

I wonder if he was holding back, acting like it was a towel throwing drill instead of to live batters...

I'm sure he was a little tentative and holding back. Give him some time. Like woody, he'll come around.

True, but woody didnt have that much problem with his velocity in his first start.

Hasn't Wood been in the low 90's.. 91-92.. in his first few starts (he started out a little higher today)? That's a good 3-4 mph below what you would expect out of him.

Normally, I expect Prior to be in the 92-93 range, on rarer occasions hitting 95... Today he was, what, 88-89... So both are down about 3 or 4 mph from their normal selves.

Man I keep Prior down there for more than two more starts. He needs to be fully ready, and it's gonna take more than 2 more starts.

Does anybody have a pitch count for Prior? He needs to be able to get up to 70 pitches before he goes up to AA or AAA.

I think they said 44. Don't quote me on that.

Just checked Cubs.com - do quote me on it. 44 it was.
