Two top draft picks with losing records and ERAs of over 5 starting today (Brownlie and Johnson). Today must be What Could Have Been Day. :D

Ouch, two tough plays lead off the bottom of the 1st in the Peoria game, and Clinton takes a 1-0 lead.

Clinton's Smith hit a flyball to left-center which Valdez caught ... but then Gregg and Valdez collided, Valdez's glove was knocked off, and the ball got behind them and went for what was scored a triple.

The next batter singled on a sinking line drive to LF that Valdez dove for, but wasn't able to catch.

Breezing through the scores...

Peoria tied the game up at 3 and it's in the bottom of the 4th.

Daytona leads 5-1 in the 4th thanks to Jake Fox's 11th HR of the season.

Scoreless in West Tenn through 1.

Scoreless in Iowa through 1.

Peoria wins 6-4!

Chirinos was 4 for 4 and everyone in the lineup had a hit except Mark Reed. Ciaramella hit his 1st homer of the year tonight as well. Taylor gave up 9 hits and 4 runs in 5, but the bullpen did a great job as Rayborn, Teasley, and Campusano (who picked up his 15th save), threw 4 innings of 2 hit ball without allowing a run.

it was great to see Peoria win tonight after a couple of tough games. Mark Reed had one at-bat in particular where he should have been on base due to a walk - the ump called a very questionable strike 2 (on a 3-1 count) that was about the same height as Mark's nasal passages. A lack of consistency yet again with the strike zone.

Ed Campusano has his league-leading 15th save of the year and was pitching lights-out again tonight. Matt Ciaramella had a great game with an outstanding running catch to save a run in the bottom of the 8th and lead off the 9th with a double after homering in the 6th.

Good stuff for sure! Now I just have to try not to melt at the game tomorrow - the humidity has really set in here...it's a 2pm game and it's supposed to be 94 here tomorrow. Ack.

Go Chiefs! (will Kane County lose already?!?)

Daytona loses 10-9 in the bottom of the 12th, Jerry Blevins took the loss.

Daytona had, I believe, a 9-2 lead at one point as well. It seems like Daytona has a problem holding onto big leads.

Grant Johnson pitched the first 5 innings, he was effectivly wild, left with a 8 to 3 lead, he just wore out in the 5th, threw 89-90, hit 93 once that i saw. Layden, and Bronder were smoked. The manatees scored 5 runs in the 6th inning, but 2 of them were taken off the board when with two outs and a run scoring hit, shattered bat, Cork, end of inning. Hunton threw effectivly, He looks like Brian Dorirak.

Mendez threw very well, has a power fast ball, hit 95 several times, has control too.

Blevens is a skinny, side winder left hander, lost the game in the 12th.

Sam Fuld looks short but can play, went 3 for 5.

Spearman played third, will probably not move any higher.

Jake fox, needs work behind the plate but is also a player.

Craig played first, also can play

Harvey played right, looked slow and Needs a lot of work. looks like a slow bat but had two hits through the left side of the infield, they walked craig to pitch to him, he flew out.

Culpepper had several hits, has a quick bat, plays left.

Danny Gonzalez is slow a foot but has a quick bat, hit several balls on the nose but for outs, went 0-6

Spears plays second, will never go any higher.wick was the DH, went 1-5.

Was the most impressed with Fuld, Fox, Craig, Culpepper and Mendez.

all in all the team plays good sound baseball, takes pitches, moves runners, needs pitching.

A corked bat in the minors - maybe we ought to have random bat testing.

Was it Iribarren? He's a prospect on the rise in the Brewers system and was ejected.
