We should seriously take a look at the guy. He's keeps himself in great shape and I was reading his book Juiced and he says he still wants to play so he can get his 500 HR's. What do you guys think? Last I heard, he's jacking long balls for some no-name league in California.

I just saw Jose a couple of months ago. Huge physical specimen and is in really good shape. However, I think he's proven that he can no longer hit a ball. That and he has no idea what to do with a glove. I'll pass.

Sure, why not. I'm so desperate at this point I'd like to bring in every single retired player there is who is still in shape, just to find that one diamond in the rough...

Not to mention the fact that he is as big a baseball pariah as they come. I can't imagine any MLB team letting him within 500 yards of a professional playing surface.

He would be hysterical in RF at Wrigley. It would be like a side show.

Yeah, but with all the HBP he would have an OBP that would put Bonds to shame.

And never score a run with this pathetic excuse for a lineup.

What's the over/under on how many games he would play in before being suspended for steroid use?

I can see it now - Canseco in LF, Sosa in RF, Palmeiro at 1B. What's McGwire and Rickey Henderson doing these days? :D

$10 says Henderson could beat Pierre's .269 OBP...

He'd destroy it.

I could see Henderson hitting about .220, and still beating Pierre's OBP by about .100. Outside of DLee, Henderson would probably lead the Cubs in OBP if he came back. Wow, is that sad.

With this coaching staff? I highly doubt it.

I don't think the coaches would have any effect on Rickey.

My first reaction to the claim that he'd destroy it though, was no way. He hit just .200 in his last stint in the majors, in 2003 at 44. But his OBP was still .321. He's 47 now. If he could hit .180, he could probably significantly beat Pierre's OBP.

I know we keep hitting rock bottom over and over again... but nothing says rock bottom like back to back posts advocating the return of Sammy Sosa and signing Jose Canseco.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating: If we acquire Jose Hernandez, I'm buying a Cardinals hat.

And while we are at it, maybe the Cubs should talk to Albert Belle, or heck even Jesse Barfield, seeing either of those players would STILL be better then Canseco.

OTOH, the last time we brought back the human K machine, he quickly left and Aramis, Randall Simon, and Kenny Lofton came in.

How about Glenallen Hill? If I can't see the guys put some Ws on the board, I'd at least like to see some jacks hit over the rooftops.
