...but I always LIKED Cabrera better then Pujols, anyways.

Wasn't Cabrera the one who once laughingly mocked Moises' hissy fit from an unspeakable game?

That said, don't get me wrong -- even if he's a smartass I'd LOVE to see him in a Cubs uni next year ... Fla *owes* us a good trade fer cryin out loud

I don't know any particular instances, but it is said that Cabrera can be extremely difficult to manage. So going in some were curious how Girardi a first year manager would handle him. Granted I don't think anyone doubted Girardi's ability to handle that situation.

If Cabrera ended up in a Cub uniform I think Dusty better be gone. I think a regimented/general like manager is better for a Cabrera type player than the player friendly type manager.

not sure about Cabrera, but nobody in baseball believes Pujols is 26.

But even the people that think he's older realize that at most he's 28. That means he likely has at least 7 more years to torment the NL Central barring injury.

Our only hope is that the Yankees somehow offer him $35 million per season.

Probably more than 10. He's the type of anti-Cub player that'll just keep ticking and ticking forever. (Like Brett Favre as the anti-Bear)

I dunno if this has been mentioned...but what about Dontrelle Willis + Cabrera for Zambrano-somebody and some minor leaguers (Pie, buncha others)

Whoa, ever thought about THAT. I dunno.....

He'd opt out of the contract because he'd rather not play for a last place team.

Players don't opt out of their contracts in that situation. They secure their money, and then wait for a team that's going nowhere to move them in a salary dumping roster move.

I think the Angels could offer up a Jered Weaver, Brandon Wood, and Kendry Morales package and blow anything we have out of the water.

NO, they don't

November 25, 2003: Derrek Lee traded by the Florida Marlins to the Chicago Cubs for Hee Seop Choi and Mike Nannini (minors).

I thought it was Lee for Choi straight up, no strings attached. I also know that we had no interest in Lee until the Marlins GM called Hendry and offered him to us.

Sure, we got them once. They've gotten us twice. Yes, Florida owes us one. Let's start with that kid they have at 3B.

Awww, cmon you aren't still sore about 6 finger and Clement for Willis, Tavarez, Ryan Jorgeson & Jose Cueto.

Dontrelle was a late round pick, 8th round of the 2000 draft (223rd overall) at the time of the trade he had never pitched above High Class A and in the FSL which is a pitcher's league.

blahblah blah, blahblah blah.

People hate the trade at the time.

I really think I'd seriously consider trading every player in the Cubs organization for Miguel Cabrera. That's a statement both on how good he is, and how worthless most of the current Cubs and Cub farmhands are.

I think I already volunteered to give up the entire Peoria roster for him.

At this point I'd volunteer to give up our entire active Chicago team for him.
