His career is crashing and burning like the Hindenburg. He may be done and he isn't even 30 yet. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this that seemingly happened for no reason, unless he took steroids.

Huff generally doesn't heat up until the 2nd half, and he also missed a month of baseball and it's still May. Edited by nolanwood

For all the heat that Hendry has taken on this board (some deserved and some not deserved), he does deserve some credit for not overpaying Furcal, trading too much for Huff and/or Lugo, not signing Preston Wilson, not giving away Walker, etc.

If Hendry had traded for Huff, we probably wouldn't even mind Neifi, Bynum or Mabry subbing for him a lot. And Huff is making like 7 mil and is a poor defensive player.

I think his lower rate stats arise from having a lower BABIP. This in turn seems to have arisen from line drives turning into ground balls. I would expect him to start hitting more line drives, which would bring his BABIP back up, thereby raising his OBP and SLG averages. Raising his BABIP from .172 back up to the league average of .300 would increase his OBP to .399 and his SLG up to .380. That's still a weak SLG rate, but i would expect that to come up as well as he stops hitting less many ground balls and more line drive doubles and HRs.

Maybe he doesn't have the bat speed to get ahold of a pitch much anymore.
