I think Blanco is the worst player on the team. He brings ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to it, not that there's much to start with but he stinks. We need a better backup catcher. There's gotta be something in Iowa. His average is terrible, he doesn't hit in the clutch, he's slow and ON AND ON AND ON.

Blanco is a solid back up catcher. He is very good at defense, which Barrett is not. I'm going to assume you meant to make this thread about Bynum, Hairston, Rusch or Neifi.

He provides more then Neifi and Bynum just because of his catching skills. But he's pretty pretty bad right now at the plate

Blanco is a solid back up catcher. He is very good at defense, which Barrett is not. I'm going to assume you meant to make this thread about Bynum, Hairston, Rusch or Neifi.

 

We could get the same good defense from some of our catchers in the minors for league minimum. Blanco is making $1.5 million this year.

 

Same could be said for Neifi, Rusch, Pierre, Jones, Mabry, etc.

 

Just shows what a terrible GM we have.

Oh, I could go on and on about those other guys. I was just speaking on Blanco right now. He was batting .057 today. That's totally inexcusable. And making 7 figures? That's ridiculous. When Barrett gets his suspension, we'll see how great it is to have Henry in there every day. I like Barrett.

Oh, man. I'm so glad somebody finally made this thread. My 97 year old grandmother can hit better than Blanco, and guess what, good defensives catchers are a dime a dozen, we probably have two or three in our own system. This is the problem with this team, we waste a roster spot on a guy who can't be counted on to pinch hit when he can...he's there to spell Barrett, and that's it? Geez, this team sucks and he's just another reason, just like Neifi, Glendon, Juan, and Bynum. What a joke, this team will lose a 100 games, mark my words.

Another positive to Soto getting called up is that it would get rid of the catcher backup that's keeping Fox in Daytona.

He sucks at the plate right now, but hes one of the best catchers in the league defensivly which is a decent for a backup catcher. Thats why when he plays Im not worrying about him getting hits im worrying about the balls that get past Barrett that he makes plays on.

There are lots of decent catchers who can hit their weight at least, keeping him for defense just plays into this team's philosophy.
