Even if Shealy was a AAAA player, which I highly doubt he is, it still improves the team because half the offense we already have is AAA quality.

I never said he was a "AAAA" player, I just question why...as he is about to turn 27, he's never had an opportunity to play everyday.

Simple: Todd Helton

He failed to impress in the outfield and Helton was blocking him at 1b. Colorado can't afford a poor fielding outfielder.

Thome was blocking Ryan Howard during his entire stay in Phily.

He didn't have to "impress" in the OF. If he could PROVE to catch the ball he can get to, then his bat--in theory---could make up for any of his liabilities on defense.

I still don't really see him as much of an option at this point. We need a bat that can platoon with Jones. And I'm not even sure that Shealy would be the first right-handed bat off the bench. If Dusty can't double-switch him into the field, is he going to be able to have that much of an impact?
