I think I might have to be a White Sox fan now.

OBP and good coaching > payroll

I believe their payroll is larger than the Cubs now.

It is biger then the Cubs payroll and they have better pitching and all around players. I really think people give their coaching too much credit.

Does Baker make it to the ASB?

And should baseball ammend the "every team has to be represented at the ASGame" rule? Cause....outside of Dempster and Barrettt....there is not ONE player that deserves to go to the ASG.

Oh, Christ. I take that back. I forgot it's another series against the Padres...Cubs sucking aside and giving them that sweep, they're red hot right now. This is gonna hurt BAD. I can only pray that the Nationals are even more craptacular than the Cubs right now. Edited by Sammy Sofa

They raised the payroll due to more publicity, winning, more fan base, and an alarmingly larger grasp of the city of Chicago.

I'm at the point where I almost want the Cubs to have their payroll sliced in half. Why blow $100+ million on an awful team and coaching staff when you can have exactly the same results for half that? Or even less?

I have to disagree regarding Cedeno. Marshall is a rookie and he didn't offer at bad pitches. There's no need to bring up Baker's decision to bunt because it was stupid. But once Cedeno gets in the box he's got to be smart about it. The fact that he was upset after offering at the second pitch well out of the strike zone probably means he understands he put himself in the hole. That whole at-bat and maybe the inning changes had he had the same approach at the plate that Marshall did.

There's no need to bring up Baker's stupid decision, even though he's been around forever and should know better, and he had plenty of time to think it through. But it's perfectly fine to pick on the rookie who failed to make the proper decision in a fraction of a second? Cedeno is an overagressive hitter as is. Yes, he shouldn't have offered, but it's absurd to suggest Dusty shouldn't be ridiculed for that absolutely god awful decision.

You want to turn the team around?

Fire Baker, Clines, Sarge and Pole

DFA Bynum

Trade or DFA Hairston

Give Neifi a complete bench role, or trade him.

Acquire a platoon partner for Jones

Get a coach that will only award performing players, with higher batting slots in the lineup.
