After a HBP and a flyout, Holliman is relieved in the 7th by Carlos Vasquez, who gets the final two outs of the inning.

Holliman's line: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 7/1, 3 HBPs

On that note, I'm off to Dodger Stadium.

Chiefs Roughed Up 8-2 at Beloit

Valdez homers in loss

Beloit, WI – The Beloit Snappers jumped on the Peoria Chiefs early and never let up cruising to an 8-2 win in the third game of a four game series Wednesday night. With the loss, the Chiefs fall a season low three games under .500 at 5-8.

The Chiefs had two on with two outs in the 1st but failed to score. Beloit staged a two-out rally of their own in the bottom of the 1st against Mike Billek. Paul Kelly started the rally with a two-out walk and Erik Lis, last night’s hero, responded with a two-run homer to left. The homer, Lis’ second of the season marked his second straight RBI hit after his 13th inning game winning double on Tuesday night.

The Chiefs tied the game in the 3rd with a two-run blast of their own. With two outs, Dylan Johnston beat out an infield single to short against Snappers starter Adam Hawes. Jesus Valdez then slammed a hanging breaking ball past the scoreboard in left-center to tie the game 2-2. The homer was Valdez’ second of the season and the team’s fourth.

The tie was short lived though as Billek walked Tarrence Patterson to lead oft the bottom of the 3rd. Patterson stole second and scored easily on a hard hit single to center by Kelly. After a groundout advanced Kelly to third, Henry Sanchez singled sharply to left to give the Snappers a 4-2 lead.

The Snappers broke the game open in the 5th inning and knocked Billek from the contest. Kelly led off with a singled and advanced to second on a basehit by Lis. Sanchez doubled both runners home and Dwayne White singled to right to put runners on the corners with no outs. Jesse Estrada relieved Billek and gave up a RBI single to Caleb Moore before White scored on a double play grounder to give Beloit an 8-2 lead.

Billek (0-3) took the loss after allowing 10 hits and eight runs. He faced the first four batters in the 5th inning before turning it over to the bullpen. Jesse Estrada threw two scoreless innings and Matt Avery allowed just two hits in two scoreless innings.

Pepsi Player of the Game

Jesus Valdez (RF) – The Chiefs outfielder accounted for all of the team’s offense with his 2nd inning homer. He finished 1-for-4 and is 3-for-9 in the series. Valdez is the first Chiefs player with two homers on the season.

Notes… The Chiefs failed to score in the 1st inning for the first time in five games…Peoria was 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and is now 2-for-18 in the series…The Chiefs never had a runner standing on third base in the game…The bullpen has allowed just two earned runs in 13.1 innings in the first three games of the series…LHP Jesus Yepez (1-0) will start Thursday at 11:o0 PM against LHP Ryan Mullins (0-0)…The broadcast begins with the pre-game show on http://www.peoriachiefs.com at 11:45 PM.

I know if you are close to a player this isn't a joking matter, but with the smiley included in the "on the juice" post I'm pretty sure it was not meant seriously.
You're right; it wasn't meant seriously. It wasn't meant as a comment on Hoffpaur at all, rather on the fact that some people seem to jump to conclusions any time a player shows a sudden jump in power.

That's funny Ublink! I am his wife and it's not a joking matter!!! :) Especially when you have guys that actually use that stuff and still get all the rewards. It's nice to see a player actually use his own talent without using steroids. :)

Just to add my 2 cents, last year son was called up to Daytona at the end of last season and a few of his friends showed up. After the game one of the parents made a comment when Son came out about who brought the "juice boxes". Well this had to do with when son was younger and playing LL that after the games the kids looked forward to their "juice boxes" and snack. Anyways friend was saying this as a joke but was quickly told by son that those words are not taken to kindly. I know that what was said about "juice" was probably meant as a joke but u never know who is reading these posts and having experienced this would tell folks to watch what they say about any of these players.....
