From a source in the organization, Mark Pawelek is not going to be on the Peoria roster for Opening Day. Some of the players that have made the roster for the Chiefs include Veal, Norwood and Billek. The complete rosters for our Minor League affiliates should be released in the next 48 hours.

Let's hope it's just the Cubs being cautious with such valuable commodity.

I have no problem with them sending him to Boise. They could probably get him 5-10 starts at Boise and another 5-10 starts at Peoria. 15 starts/75-90IP would not be considered a failure, IMO.

If it's Boise and they are being cautious, yeah.

I am looking forward to seeing at least him or Veal with the Chiers this season.

It could just be an effort to keep him out of the worst of the cold weather to lessen the risk of injury. He could stay in extended ST until May and then join the Chiefs.

I would be disappointed if the Cubs had him wait until late June to start playing in Boise. It just seems a bit unnecessary. He's got the stuff to compete in Low A right now, doesn't he?

Stuff-wise, he would be a pretty good addition to Peoria. However, it could well be possible that the Cubs might see something in his mechanics that need work or something along those lines.

On a related note, the weather has been unusually mild in the Midwest this winter and seems to be heading towards regularly being in the 60s/70s in the near future. This was one of the warmest winters I can remember.

Or maybe he gets bumped to Daytona. Is he not on Peoria roster because they are talking it easy with him or pushing him ahead??

How do we know this DJaxx character has any credibility?

After what he did last year, I have to agree - no credibility.
