rich hill sucks

I'm still waiting for his talent to shine. I mean basically he hasn't shown anything but a above average to great curve ball. I know he's only got 20 innings under his belt in the bigs, but I can't see how in the world you are going to be an effective starter with 1 pitch.

He blew Vlad away with two FB's up in the zone.

Big deal! He still gave up 2 runs in the first inning. Can you honestly say Rich Hill has impressed you. At all?

His curve is very impressive.

Yes, I honestly can.

What's impressed you? Besides a good Curveball.

I tend to disagree. I've seen plenty of games he couldn't turn 2 or couldn't make the easy play. His range is really poor. I just want someone with better range. With a Cedeno at SS you want someone solid at 2nd base.

and with rusch, williams, maddux and hill in the rotation, you need someone that can hit the freaking ball.

damn it, hill...4-2.

Defense and pitching wins.

hey, if the cliche sounds good, it must be true.

It's not a Cliche and you know it's true. Look at any world series winner the past 3-4 years and you will see Solid D and Great pitching.

190+ k's in 130 minor league innings is pretty impressive. but apparently you're basing your judgment on what he's done since 2:00 today...

lets see how far back we have to go - Boston 2004 - shaky defense, decent pitching, great offense.

yeah, i think we all remember boston's '04 team for its flashy defense. oh, and a lineup full of high OBP mashers.

hill's had two lefties 0-2...he needs to k those guys.

I would agree that good teams generally have good pitching. they also generally have good offense. you see, you need both! the idea is to outscore your opponent. that means you score more with your offense than they score against your pitching and defense.

Boston sucked on defense.

It is interesting, though, that the Red Sox acquired Dave Roberts and Doug Mientkiewicz to help them with speed and defense down the stretch.

They signficantly improved their defense @ the trade deadline with the additions of Mienkiewicz & Cabrera

I'm very nervous about our SP. I don't see where the quality starts come from in April.

April is worrisome. Too bad, since -- other than Florida -- it's all divisional play.

Hill has not been impressive at all - he is exactly right that his lack of command will kill him,

C'mon the Minors are littered with great Minor League pitchers who never did squat in the Majors. I'm not basing my judgement on just today I'm basing my judgement on all the times I've seen him pitching in the bigs.
