Who decides if he gets to play, the team manager? Or is there some sort of committee that put the team together?

Man I really hope that Bonds isn't allowed to represent our country.

Buck Martinez already said that the only way Barry could get on the team is if someone was injured...and no one is, lol. It sounds like he really doesn't want him.

I like that stance as it would be really unfair to a guy like Matt Holliday who left his team, and put in all the time only to barely play the past few games. On the other hand it's Matt Holliday vs. Barry Bonds.

I could care less about relevant talent levels of the players involved. One took risks to play for his country and the other only wanted in after he saw the good publicity.

Yesterday was his first appearance in a Giants spring training game. He DH'd.

[bonds] said he'd be back in the lineup as the designated hitter again Saturday when the Giants play the Oakland A's at Phoenix and he hopes to make his debut in left field Sunday against the San Diego Padres at Scottsdale Stadium.

I hope Barry didn't take that to mean that he himself has to injure himself to get on the roster.

I wouldn't mind if he took it that way.

You know he's doing this to "prove" that he's not on steroids. The Olympic-level drug testing that comes with the WBC would likely come down upon him. Considering he probably hasn't done steroids since his mysterious knee injury popped up, he likely would test negative.

I agree with you. But I'm curious as to why he didn't start up before all this book stuff which would have made the contents of the book seem mistimed.
