W.P. Kinsella[/url]"]After the 1994 strike, I vowed not to spend another penny that might go into the pockets of either players or owners until all the players and hopefully most of the owners were gone from the game.

Since then I've attended about a game a year, always at someone else's expense. I do regret that this has meant following much of Ichiro Suzuki's career on television rather than in person.

It has been 12 years, and most of the prestrike players still hanging on are old men, injury plagued, with reflexes slowing down, and I take pleasure in the struggles of people such as Tom Glavine, Barry Bonds, Greg Maddux and Sammy Sosa.

MLB certainly hasn't missed his presence. He's only been hurting himself.

struggles of Greg Maddux??? He certainly isn't the cy young candidate he was, but there is not many teams that wouldn't want him on their staff.

Hmm... the name Kinsella seems odd. Is it that character from Field of Dreams getting cranky now?

Actually, I believe the movie Field of Dreams was based off of W.P. Kinsella's novel Shoeless Joe.

It was, but the main character's last name was also Kinsella.

That was horrible, but I couldn't resist.

I think Kinsella is Joe Morgan's ghost writer....
