Belittling?

Why so sensitive?

Because this is the 2nd time I've been jumped on for not meeting the high standards of some of the "better" posters.

There's no excuse for treating someone like that. Oh, but I guess since these are only words on a computer screen, that gives people a right to use sarcasm, and yes, belittle others.

I think this is the entire article that was referenced earlier. In it Carroll says there is no difference between a tear and a "frayed labrum". I don't know what to make of that.

Also, I found that torn labrums are often the result of dislocations, but that's not the only way to tear one.

Where was the belittling? He corrected your error.

Go back to his first response.

"Good Grief"

I don't mind being corrected. If I make a mistake, please correct, and I'm man enough to admit I was wrong. But "rolling" one's eyes by making a statment such as "good grief" is a phrase of belittlement.

If you can't see that, then I'm wasting my time.

Here's a pretty informative site on all that is the labrum.

Nice link. Seems there is a difference in a torn and frayed labrum.

Yes, my surgeon explained the difference in great detail, and I think I will side with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Johns Hopkins over Will Carroll and his sources.

Reading parts of that reminded me of my shoulder seperation, and I felt similar to how I feel when I see a bad knee injury in a game.

I think you need to step back and look at the situation to see that you're going overboard because of two words that aren't extremely inflammatory.

No, they are not extremely inflammatory. I never said they were. They are terms of belittlement.

Am I being a little sensitive? Maybe. Or maybe it's just I get sick and tired of coming on these boards, trying to contribute, and get belittled by others who think they are better than others.

Other people gossip and talk behind other's backs and gossip. But when someone like me calls someone out on their pompous behavior, I get labled too sensitive. But whether you agree with me or not, using the term "good grief" was like rolling ones eyes. I don't put up with that crap. I don't disrespect people that way, and I expect the same treatment in return.

The right two words can be. I'm sure I can come up with a bunch of combos that would piss of plenty of people. :D

I had a league basketball game last night and a guy on the other team tore his ACL.

It was awful.

I know - I refuse to watch any injury replays - especially knee injuries. That's one reason I don't watch nearly as much football anymore.

I stopped watching those replays after Theisman's broken leg. What's the first one I decide to look at 2 decades later? Willis McGahee in the Fiesta Bowl. Man, I'm an idiot sometimes.

After my own shoulder issues this last fall, I really didn't enjoy reading that. Blech.

Will Carrolls article was very interesting and informative. But,he failed to mention Chris Carpenter coming back from a torn labrum.Guess it really didn't fit his arguement too well. When Woods ready we'll just see where his velocity is.If hes mid 90's then he has a chance.

Leiber's ERA+ the three years before his torn labrum (nice work there Baylor)

2000 - 97

2001 - 111

2002 - 103

after

2004 - 104

2005 - 108

those guys both had torn labrum and missed entire seasons. I think that alone is indicative that Kerry's surgery was nowhere near as serious since he'll be back within 8-9 months
