everyone's favorite site Mlbtraderumors has some info about the Cards kicking the tires on Cabrera. Pujols/Cabrera talk about a foundation for years to come. Mentions the Cubs begging to get in on the action for Cabrera.

Site also mentions that he got report yesterday from an emailer about a Soranio report on the score that the Cubs were still kicking the tires.

Other than Anthony Reyes, I don't see how the Cards have the players that would interest the Marlins. Colby Rasmus might interest the Fish, but I think the Cubs have much more depth than the Cards.

Like the Cubs, the Cards lack young, cheap major league talent to trade, so a trade is going to made up primarily of farmhands.

I think the Cubs farm hands compare favorably if not better than the Cardinals. Add to that, the Cubs could toss in Murton if they acquired Miggy, and I would definitely say the Cubs have greater odds of getting him than the Cardinals do.

Now are there teams that could outbid the Cubs? Certainly. I just don't think the Cardinals are one of those teams.

I love the fact that the Cubs are begging for some Miggy action. This kid is amazing. Numbers compare favorably to Pujols as one poster mentioned.

In other words this is the "power bat" that we have been looking for for 2 years now. And by the sounds of it, if the reports are accurate and the Cubs are begging to get in on the action, then the Cubs realize this too.

Any word from Bruce about whether the Cubs are making a push for Cabrera as the (admittedly sketchy) Angels blog suggested? I doubt there's much (if any) truth to it, though I'd prefer to hear one way or another so I don't get my hopes up unnecessarily.

I agree. I would rest a lot easier if this thing was either confirmed or denied by a credible source....I.E. Bruce.

I would say don't get your hopes up unnecessarily.

Repeat.

Cabrera is a freak.

Supposedly the Marlins are asking for Figgins and several top Angels prospects (Angels said no).

That's far above what we can offer.

The key word in that statement is the Angels said NO. Miggy could be the final peice of the Cubs puzzle. I say you gotta give it a shot.

Of course he could be the final piece to teh Angels puzzle too and they said no.
