Interesting to note that there are only 23 players listed, and Neifi Perez only shows a salary of $1 million. Where's CPatterson20 TransmogrifiedTiger when you need him ??

I've really been slack with this offseason's moves, so someone else that has kept up better(JeffH comes immediately to mind) may be able to help more. I will say that several of those figures don't look right at first glance, specifically the aforementioned Neifi, Eyre, Howry, Rusch, Dempster, Barrett(I don't think anyone actually knows the breakdown of his deal), and ARam. From the incomplete info I have, those mistakes or different breakdowns would add at least 7+ million to the final total.

It doesn't have updated arby settlement numbers either. Z at 3.76?

True. Adding in raises to Z, Hairston, and Pierre, plus the completely omitted Ohman adds an additional 6 million to the payroll, not including what I referenced above.

If I comprehend all of this correctly, then, we are right around $100 million, no?

Roughly, yeah.

Well, as Sen. Everett Dirksen said back in the 50's..... "A million dollars here, a million dollars there, pretty soon you're talking about real money"

Oh, and we don't know exactly what Murton, Cedeno, Wuertz, Wellemeyer, and Williams will make yet. Of course the difference between their numbers from last year will be negligible, so it won't really matter when talking about total payroll.

That list also doesn't take into account final incentive numbers (not that I'd expect it to). Then again, I'd feel better knowing the Cubs didn't pay Neifi $2.5 million last year.

Not surprised to see us not hit the 100mil mark. Next year might be even less.

Next years FA class is much better, I'd expect them to top 100 mil.

Hendry would have topped it this year if Furcal had taken the Cubs' offer.

Before the season is over, I'm sure the Cubs will hit the $100 Mil mark.

Where does this rank amongst teams?? Am guessing top 8.

Should have figured they wouldn't spend as much w/ Sosa off the payroll. They were basically playing w/ an $85 million or so roster last year.

I'd guess about 5th. Yanks/Red Sox/Angels/Mets...

They have the largest payroll in the NLC. I think the Cards is around 90.
