This is just a really dumb NFC north preview. How do you have a preview like that, and essentially ignore the Bears? He mentions the Bears schedule and contract beefs, but says nothing of their strengths. Meh...I'm just ready for NFL season.

I was thinking the same thing. It's a 4 team division and he hardly mentioned the Bears. How hard can that be?

And its not just one of the 4 teams, its the reigning division champ.

I really think the Bears are being a bit overlooked by the "experts" because of the offensive issues they had last year...this is from a chat with a Scouts, Inc. guy on ESPN.

Richard Oshkosh, WI: Are the Bears the team to beat in the NFC North? Seems like the Vikings have a lot of talent, at least on paper.

Gary Horton: (11:25 AM ET ) I would say that you have to start with the Bears, because of what they did last year. It's the same team from 2005. I love what Minnesota's done in the offseason. I think from a talent level, they're as explosive as the Bears, but they have a new coaching staff and a lot of new players. It's hard for everyone to gel in Year 1. That will be the key for the Vikings. I think Chicago as good as they are is a little overrated. I don't think they will be as dominating in 2006 as they were a year ago. I really don't believe in their offense, even with Grossman. If Minnesota gets off to a good start, I think they could catch the Bears.

Doesn't Minnesota always get off to a good start and then always blow it at the end?

the bears were overlooked last year by the experts, who seemingly picked them to lose every week. bad predictions make me happy, because the experts know nothing about predicting football.

Worst team in the league.

I don't get how anybody could say the Bears are overrated when everybody is talking about them taking a step back.

Dr. Z from SI picked them to be 32nd ranked in the league.

And Harmon's Forecast predicted the Bears to go 0-17.

Just a reminder that individual game tickets go on sale this Saturday at noon.

I will be working the phone and the web! Has anyone had a lot of success getting tickets right when they go on sale? If so, please advise. I was shut out last year.

Really shut out? I was on-line in 2 minutes, processed and paid in less than 10 minutes? I guess I had some good luck. At least they go on sale at noon on a Saturday in the middle of the summer. Hopefully that drives some people away.

Interesting, advised by my roomate last year, we tried by telephone and couldn't get through. I was planning on going the intarweb route this year and I'm glad that you had some success, this pleases me. I was to try to get the Monday night game and 2 others.

It wouldn't seem like there's a congestion problem online. It's probably more of a case of the limited tickets going really, really quickly. I'm still trying to figure out if I should go for the Green Bay game right away or another game since I'd imagine that'll be the most popular. Maybe the Vikings or Bucs.

I'm waiting for confirmation that the Bears will be using unique passwords for the presale, but it looks like that's the case.

It's through ticketmaster correct?

Yeah. And the club season ticket holder presale is 8 AM - 8 PM on Friday.

Expectations were a bit lower last year for the team, so I'd imagine it'll be harder getting through this year.

If you're going to try by phone, it's probably best to use a number in a different state. It'll likely be automated, but you can still get tickets through an out-of-state number. The main Chicago number might be hard to get through. Also, make sure you don't use multiple windows. Ticketmaster doesn't allow that. If you have seats in one window and then open another, you'll lose whatever you were doing in the first window.

Hrm, that's a good point. I wonder if I should try to get tickets to a less marketable game first? I could end up not getting ticks for the Monday night game and by the time I get around to other games, the cheapie's could be all sold out. Quite the conundrum.

Yeah, it's a dilemma. Of course, I'm going to try for just one game, most likely.

The more I think about it, the Packers game probably wouldn't be the best to go to. It would be great if the division came down to the final week, but if the Bears already clinched a spot, it wouldn't be a very competitive game. And if the Bears weren't going to advance, then beating the Packers would be bittersweet. I'm thinking more about the Vikings game now, since I want to go to one when it's colder and preferably after Northwestern's (regular) season is over since I have season tickets to that. That could be the big division game late in the season. Maybe the Bucs, though.

I think my first shot will be for the Monday night game against the Rams. I will then go for the Lions game and then the Bills game. I hope I get get tickets to all three but, I suppose I'd be happy just to get one.

I'm not sure why this didn't register until just now, but the Rams game is at St. Louis. The only prime time game the Bears are playing is sunday night against the Seahawks. I'd imagine games like the Bills and Dolphins would be the least popular ones, so it probably would make sense to try for a game that will be in more demand first.

I'm an idiot. I have the schedule right in front of me yet still... I'll probably go for the Seahawks game first then, then the 49ers, then the Bucs. I'm hoping to spread the ticket love over the course of the season.
