What's with almost no New Year's Day bowls this year? And why is the Rose Parade moved to tomorrow?

There was a little thing called the NFL today. Perhaps you missed it ;)

They don't want to go against each other and steal ratings.

 

That's why there weren't any college bowl games on NYE after like 4:00 finishing time. Then there was the Broncos/Chargers.

 

More revenue overall for the sport if you aren't competing for the airtime.

By Pasadena law, the Rose Parade is always postponed to the 2nd if the 1st is on a Sunday. The same for the Rose Bowl game if it was scheduled for the 1st.

Those were for the 2005 bowl games. It's 2006 now. :P We probably should have a thread for all the games between Jan. 2 - 4.

Go OSU. For fantasy purposes, I'll be rooting for Teddy Ginn, he's definitely one of the most exciting players at the college level.

No doubt Rais, but only if Jim Tressel wasn't such a dolt in using him. Seriously, he has Reggie Bush-like talent, but Tressel just does not utilize him (or Santonio Holmes for that matter) enough in the passing game.

I'd try to use him like Reggie Bush was used his freshman year: get him 10-15 touches a game between trick plays, playing at WR and punt returns. Does he play defense at all right now?

Carpenter is unlikely to dress for the game, per Tressel in the Press Conference.

 

 

Also Weis said, obviously jokingly, that Laura Quinn (Hawk's gf) has given them a lot of good information on OSU.

I would like to mention that I had Fiesta Bowl tickets, but could not afford the flight, or hotel rooms. I was not very happy.

Outback Bowl - Iowa vs. Florida - ESPN, on now

Gator Bowl - Louisville vs. Virginia Tech - NBC, on now

Capital One - Wisconsin vs. Auburn - ABC, 1 pm ET

Fiesta Bowl - Notre Dame vs. Ohio State - ABC, 4:30 pm ET

Sugar Bowl - West Virginia vs. Georgia - ABC, 8:30 pm ET

Cottown Bow: Alabama leads Texas Tech at the half, 7-3.

Gator Bowl: Louisville leads Virginia Tech 7-0 midway through the first quarter.

After South Carolina was an embarassment to the SEC, LSU roared strongly over Miami, and today Bama and Florida are making a strong show. If Auburn and Georgia can get wins it will show the SEC is still a dominant conference.

The Fiesta Bowl is the only game where I would make an exception for a game ending in a tie this year. I hate both teams and hope they all get food poisoning.
