From Fox Sports:

looks like our man prior isn't going anywhere...

In other news, the Orioles are on the brink of abandoning their effort to trade disgruntled shortstop Miguel Tejada, who has expressed a desire to leave Baltimore because the team has not done enough to improve itself during the offseason.

"There is absolutely no deal we find acceptable to trade this very special player to another team," an Orioles official said.

This is good news. I worry that this is a ploy to get Hendry to up his offer. Hopefully, Hendry moves on. Doubt he does, but let's all hope.

Good News indeed. Hope it's true. Time for Hendry to jump all over Gonzo + Cash for Corey (if that's true). Then sign Weaver up for a 1 year deal, similiar to Milwood and Cleveland last year.

Pierre

Walker

Lee

Aramis

Gonzo

Barrett

Jones

Cedeno

Z, Prior, Wood, Weaver, Maddux....Williams/Rusch/Hill/Guzman

Dempster, Howry, Eyre, Williamson, Wuertz, Ohman, Williams/Rusch

Looks good to me.

six man rotation???

Naw, the first 5 are the rotation, the others are options after injuries.

Except Perez for Walker and either him or Jones hitting in the two hole. Thats more likely. And what about Gonzo requiring an extension to 2007 in order to waive his no trade rights? Meh.

Hendry needs to think even more creative.

And there's no way Weaver is going to take a 1-year deal when he's going to get at least 3 years from some other team.

Depends on how confident he is in himself. Milwood benefitted greatly from his 1-year deal. He is also a Boras client. Weaver will have the option of a muti-year deal; but if he can put it together next season, he can get a monster deal next winter.

Time to offer Pie, Hill, and Williams for Dunn.

Probably would have to throw in Murton too, which would be fine, of course. We could also send them an extra arm such as Wellymeyer if they so desire.

But I wont get my hopes up.

Rather than throw in Murton, I'd try to take back Milton which would get them out of that contract.

Pitchers are getting monster deals this year. Why take a chance on injury or having a bad season and wait another year if you can get your deal this year? And Boras is his client. He's getting 3 years minimum.

But what use would we have with Murton? Like it or not, we are stuck with Jones.

Murton would make the ideal fourth OF since an OF of Jones, Pierre, and Dunn would be all LHed.

That's my concern too, especially given the words used in the last sentence.

"There is absolutely no deal we find acceptable to trade this very special player to another team,"

That's a statement designed to raise value.

Here comes the obligatory "we never intended to trade Prior nor was he ever offered in any kind of proposal. They inquired about him and were denied" from Hendry to kiss Prior's butt to make him want to stay.

I can live with that as long as it keeps Prior pitching for the Cubs.

I'd still guess that Tejada gets moved, though it may take a while.

I'd hope that Hendry keeps testing the waters. I've explained why I don't want Prior (or Z) as part of any trade.

But under most other circumstances, I'd love to see Tejada in a Cubs uni. :)
