PSU made another important step towards an NIT bid. If they finish with 6 or 7 wins in the conference, that would be huge for a team that is graduating just one player this year (Parker).
I thought that PSU played pretty well against Purdue, especially Parker, who was lights out. Purdue was way off from 3(I think they were 3-23 or something), but that's basketball.

I think the road win at U of I is a huge step towards the NIT.

Did you actually see the play happen? It was not a charge.

No charge, but he's lucky there wasn't a T called for hanging on.

Agreed, I love Randle but he comes close to a T about once a game for one his dunks.

Nah he had to Marco was underneath his feet. Still I wanna see the great athlete Haluska do that!

Im starting to get the feeling the B10 is going to suck in the tourney this year. I have a lot less confidence in these teams than last year.

Michigan needs to win this game tonight. They are pissing away their tourney birth.

I've just been informed that Alando Tucker has another year of eligibility left. How did I not know this? He must have gotten a medical redshirt that I didn't know about. This pleases me.

Yep, Tucker sat out all but a handful of games when he injured/broke his foot, applied for and got a medical reshirt. Ray Nixon is the only senior on the team, and Tucker, Taylor, and Chappel are the only juniors.

I didn't realize that he applied for a medical RS for that season. Excellent. I still wish he would have played with Harris more that year. It could have been great. Almost as great as if Harris would have come back his senior season. Oh well...

I doubt he'll go pro. I doubt he'd be picked before the late second if he went anyway. He needs to develop his jumper.

Yeah, there aren't many 6"6" power forwards in the NBA. He might be able to carve out a niche as a role player but would probably make far more money playing overseas ala Rashard Griffith. Needless to say he won't even get drafted much higher next year. He will stay without a doubt

Take off the orange glasses for a moment. There was nobody anywhere near him. He wasn't hanging on to spare someone below. And what the hell does Haluska have to do with any of this?

Because he (and many other Illinois fans) finds it necessary to run down a Hawkeye to boost up an Illini player. They don't think Haluska is a good athlete simply because he's white and from Iowa. It doesn't matter if you show them that his times, distances would have placed very well and probably won him some championships in Illinois. It's funny that every time ESPN does an Iowa game the broadcasters make reference about Haluska's track achievements and talk about what a great athlete he is. I guess they didn't get the memo.

No one ever said Haluska was a better athlete than Randle, but there was an enormous argument about it. The fact is Haluska is a better basketball player and also is a great athlete.

Did anyone come on here after Doug's nasty dunk against MSU and say "I wanna see Brian Randle do that" or say anything about Illinois? Nope. And you wouldn't think that fans of a team who has done much better recently would have such a fixation on their supposed inferior neighbors to the west.

Tucker will definitely be back next year. In the NBA he'll be a 2/3, but to get there he'll need to work on his dribbling and defense. I doubt he'll ever have a consistent outside shot. I like his chances in getting to the league as a role player/specialist.

Yes, they do and yes they are. I am a bit worried, but what will likely happen is Michigan losing to Illinois and at OSU, beat Indiana at home and beat a team like Purdue in the first round of the Big 10 tourney. That would put them at 19-10 (9-9) including the tourney, and I just don't see a way with all the hype the Big 10 has gotten this year, that they send less then 6 teams into the dance unless Michigan completely collapses and loses out (leaving them 17-11 (7-10))

That leaves in no particular order:

1. Illinois

2. Michigan State

3. Ohio State

4. Wisconsin

5. Iowa

6. Michigan

The problem is of course 3 of Michigan's starting 5 being out with injuries (Abram, Harris and Hunter). Hunter will be out 3-6 weeks (a huuuuge blow), Harris should be playing tonight and Abram - who the hell knows.

No one near him. Do you see the picture. Right after the dunk Marco froze right under him. WOW! Yes people have said he was a better athlete than Randle. I don't care what color Haluska is I think he is a good athlete, but not in the class that Randle or Doug Thomas are.

1) I saw the play live

2) I saw the subsequent 82 replays

3) Nobody was under him

4) When have I ever mentioned Haluska? Should I compare Greenway and Hodge to LBs Illinois had last year to you? That would be the same argument.

5) You're comparing a 6'5" guard to a couple of 6'8" forwards.

Haluska is a small forward, like Luther Head was last year. Plus I love how Illinois fans take every opportunity to rip Iowa players, yet I stated Brunner would have been big ten mvp last week. yet every hawkeye fan rips on dee brown becuase of his numbers this year. well numbers ain't everything every coach in the big ten would take dee brown over there starting point guard. every single one of em.

I waffle back and forth pretty much every other day on whether I think the Big 10 is gonna clean up in the tourney or have a losing record in the tourney.

The Michigan loss probably sunk them, but if Minnesota can steal one of their games at Wisconsin or at home against UI(they could really use the road win-only 2 on the season), anyone else think they belong? They'd obviously need the first round win, (probably against the 10 seed) but that'd put them at 17-12(7-9) in the best conference in the country in a real down year for bubble teams. That should put their RPI in the 40s-50s I would guess, along with a 7-3 record in the last 10, all losses to tournament teams along with 3 wins over tourney teams. I don't think it's likely they'd beat Wisconsin or UI(though I do fear this game), but it's certainly possible and it seems Minnesota isn't getting any attention despite having a similar profile to IU(who's sliding the other way.)

Haluska is a guard. Plain and simple, he is not a small forward. Comparisons on their respective abilities should not be made since they play completely different roles with their teams.

I don't care what you said about Brunner last week, it doesn't pertain to me or this conversation. I don't care what other Hawkeye fans said about Dee, it doesn't pertain to me or this conversation.

I'm not "ripping" anyone, just pointing out that Randle hung onto the rim for too long (with nobody under him, as you claim) and was lucky he did not get a T called.

You seem to take everything that does not put the Illini on a pedestal personally, and it's really getting old.

Right I think we have played like crap for two straight weeks. I have no problem with anyone saying that. We have. That said we went 2-2 during that span. Unfortunately the one loss at home to penn state probably cost us the big ten. I think anytime your hawkeyes are questioned you get mad, it doesn't bother me. I enjoy it, it is refreshing to see people stand up for them after living there the past two years everyone ripped them in basketball. It is nice to see that the fans are starting to get back behind them.

If Michigan finished around 18-10 (7-9) and Minnesota 17-12 (7-9), I think the Big 10's 6th spot would be up to those two, and with Michigan beating Minnesota twice by 15+ points, Michigan would get the nod. The only thing that would put that in doubt would be the fact that Minnesota would be lik 8-2 in their last 10, with Michigan like 3-7

How hard is it for the Illini defenders to realize that you cant leave Horton alone for wide open 3's.

That's the thing I don't understand with this team and last year's. We're the #1 defense when it comes to PPG allowed and 3-pt.5, but I swear we give up so many open 3-pointers. Last year's team did the same thing, but you didn't notice it as much as this year because we buried three's last year, too.

Someone, anyone explain to me why we insist on playing 19' out for at least 25 seconds of the 35 second shot clock?
