This horrific trade aside, who is the top five CF? And you can't count on top 5 production at 2B since Walker is likely gone.

Walker is NOT gone and there is no deal where he is rumored in recently. Therefore Walker is still a Cub and still can be considered a top 5 offensive 2B. As far as the CF comment how many CF are better then Pierre?

I think you need to read the Walker thread in the Baseball discusion. Walker is nowhere near a top 5 offensive 2B in the NL let alone baseball. Walker was at best an average to slightly below average offensive 2b in 2005 and most agree below average defensively.

Below average offensively on what standard? He ranked 3rd in OPS and 2nd in BA amongst NL second basemen with at least 300 ABs. He was also just .001 away from being tied for 7th in OBP. And at the rate he was producing at, he would've been at or near the top in both doubles and HRs if he played a full season.

"There is absolutely no deal we find acceptable to trade this very special player to another team," an Orioles official said.

Interesting. I've read the 'net theory that the offer was on the table and turned down, and the Cubs are just denying it via the media.

Or this is posturing, trying to see if Hendry is desperate enough to send them Z.

And let's hope he's found his brain and decided that the Cubs with Prior are better than the Cubs with Tejada and no Prior.

The deal just never added up. Levine stirred up some hysteria though. Job well done. You'll be getting a raise sir.

It's not the first time, and won't be the last, either.

Thank god.

Off the top of my head...

Edmonds, Griffey, Jones, Beltran, Wilkerson, Damon, Sizemore

All guys I'd take over Pierre.

EDIT - I'll throw in Bradley for good measure.

Maybe looking to up the offers.

I doubt Tejada will be satisfied with the signing of Burnitz.

If this is true, Mrs. CubinNY wll be a very happy bandwgn Cub fan.

When I told her about the possible trade she said, "Why would they want to do something stupid like that."

She has a way with words.
