The best news about this is that it takes away at least a little credibility from the dirty rumors rising in the Prior-Tejada threads, which include Patterson to the O's.

Or maybe this is incentive for the O's to pull the trigger or perhaps lower their demands.

If the other propsed deal was already on the table and awaiting nothing more than the O's to pull the trigger, then they don't deserve the steal that landed in their laps, and hopefully we can use this potentially lucrative situation in Boston to land a deal which is a little less...how you say...murderous-rampage-inspiring.

I say keep patterson, the cubs will need a backup when Jock Jones starts to suck.

Jones will be bad, but I don't expect Corey to be any better. He isn't going to improve by sitting on the bench and filling in when Jacque slumps.

I don't see C-Patt going to Boston since the Boston newspapers have pointed out that he is the worse player available to play center field. They have detailed his horrible OBP and the fact that the only time he has been atop the leader board at the end of the year is in strikeouts. In other words, the newspapers have made C-Patt look like the worse move Boston could possibly make such that the club would look real bad picking him up in a deal.

Just like the Cubs were a perfect trade fit with Tampa, so is Boston. The problem with Boston is they are in the same division. Would Tampa deal with Boston?

The 3 or even 4 player combo of Lugo, Gathright, Huff and Baez would have been a nice addition for Boston or the Cubs.

Settles SS, CF, RF/1b and set up or closer. Tampa will likely come down on their demands once it's obvious no one will pony up the big package.

That sounds kinda like what we were doing with jones, but thank god, management persisted #-o
