Nomar near decision among four teams

Nomar to the Yankees? Nomar to the Dodgers? Nomar to the Indians?

You've heard the rumors. The question marks surrounding them could disappear as soon as Thursday.

Nomar Garciaparra's agent, Arn Tellem, told ESPN.com Wednesday that Garciaparra hopes to make a decision on his next destination "by the end of the week," and might decide as early as Thursday.

Garciaparra, who is testing free agency for the second straight winter, is "zeroing in on four teams," Tellem said. The Yankees, Indians and Astros are known to be three of them.

Here's to hoping he doesn't go to the Astros.

I hope he goes to Cleveland. I have a bad feeling that he's going to go to the Astros and tear up Cubs pitching next year. :x

I hope he goes to Cleveland. When the Cubs start out 4-11 next season, I plan to have Cleveland as my backup team.

I'm hoping for Cleveland. I will be able to actually cheer for his team rather than just him. Nomar's been my favorite player ever since I can remember, I'm going to miss him dearly.

Good for Nomar, I'm glad he escaped this train wreck of a team. At least with Houston, LA, NY, or Cleveland, he'll have the chance to win. That has to be a lot more fun than looking forward to a 66-96 season.

While I have agreed with most of your posts, I completely disagree with this one.

66-96 season and we are in middle of December? C'mon man relax. Also, what has Houston done that has made them better, lose Clemens?

Rest easy, the season doesn't start tomorrow and Hendry will find us a RF.

Agreed. If we are 66-96.....then our pitching is terrible too.....a right fielder wont change that. So much of baseball is luck...things need to go your way. How many picked the White Sox to win the World Series last year? Or their division for that matter. You just never know.....even with Patterson/Burnitz/Jones.....any of them.....if our pitchers get on a roll (like the Sox's did last year)....we can go a long way. It's the Cubs...and it seems like things never go "our way"....but anything can happen.
