It looks as if "Jurassic" Carl Everett is about to sign a deal with the Mariners.

Link

Sources say they can be expected to announce later this week they have reached agreement with outfielder/designated hitter Carl Everett on a contract for either one year, or one year plus a club option for 2007.

Hopefully, this will open the Mariners up to the possibility of trading Ibanez.

The article indicates the Mariners are frustrated in their attempts to obtain pitching.

I wonder if they would consider a deal built around Williams for Ibanez?

Even if they sign Everett, trading Ibanez would leave them short a LF.

They'd have Reed/Everett/Ichiro, if they wanted to deal Ibanez.

Anyone care to field bets as to how long it'll take before Kenny Williams trades for him again? :D

And once he does, Everett will revert to "White Sox form" and hit .280 with 25 home runs.

this is an interesting acquisition, seeing as how when i lived in seattle, everett was a routine whipping boy for talk radio.

the fans can't stand him. if you remember, it was everett who had all those problems with moyer a few years back.

Very good ?. I know that last year they wanted Bucky Jacobson to play but he was out for the season. Maybe this year they can leave him in DH? I still don't see the Mariners getting rid of Ibanez.
