Zero chance the Cubs trade Prior or Zambrano in any sort of deal for Tejada.

Not 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%.

Zero.

Why would Baltimore have much interest in Todd Walker?

And yes, I would be really mad if the Cubs traded Prior or Zambrano and change for Tejada and a pitching prospect.

Could Roberts switch to SS?

I like how he thinks it would take more than Prior/Z, Cedeno, Walker, and Patterson to land Tejada.

But we're getting Loewen too, so we need to throw in someone else. Not quite Pie or Dopirak, but close to that. While we're asking, would they like the rights to Wrigley as well?

And you thought I overvalued Tejada? :D

I would like to see Hendry get Tejada unless he has a better plan for RF and SS that he can do.

Loewen's numbers in High A Ball:

142 IP, 28 G, 27 GS, 10-8, 4.12 ERA, 130 H, 8 HR, 146/86 K/BB, 1 CG

BA says that he's had shoulder issues and needs to straighten out his mechanics. LHP that works 90-92, touches 95 and a good curveball. However, his changeup needs work.

The Cubs don't need another Rich Hill, imo.

how is he similar to Rich Hill? :? b/c he's a lefty?

As much as I would hate to see it happen, that's quite an attractive package of players that the White Sox could offer.

Lefty with a knockout curve, decent fastball, and a mediocre changeup. Couple that with mechanics that cause him to be wild (15 WPs and 86 BBs) and you have a similar pitcher.

Only notable differences are age (Loewen is 21) and G/F (2.58 for Loewen, .92 for Hill).

3-1 odds!?

no way the cubs trade cedeno and walker. if one goes, the other stays.

and i agree that trading a pitcher under 25 for a 30 yo SS is foolish. if he can trade prospects and walker/jwill/cpatt for him, great; if not, let's find a RF and move on.

I like Rich Hill pretty well, but those are two pretty huge differences.

Just curious, but why is it so unreasonable to move Dopirak? Mind you, I was a Dope fan three years ago when he was largely left for dead and then had his breakout year. While he struggled last year, I still expect him to play better. However, his success has still not been realized above A ball to date. Further, his defensive liabilities have made him more valuable to an AL team. Therefore, unless the DH is implemented in the NL within the next few years, I see no reason why he isn't dangled in trade talks, particularly since DLee seems entrenched for the foreseeable future at 1B.

I'd still consider moving Z for Tejada in some manner.

Why would anyone trade a more valuable property that costs less for a less valuable property that costs more?

'Cause it's the Cubs? (See sig.)

Actually, let me add something, too. This is the second paragraph out of the article:

The best guess is that the Orioles will do nothing; under owner Peter Angelos, they are notoriously deliberate in trade and free-agent negotiations.

C'mon, don't take things out of context! It's pretty much saying, "If, in the unlikely event that Miguel Tejada is traded, the Cubs are the early frontrunners."

I guess that may be viewed as optimistic, but I was really expecting something else when I read the topic title/message...

So the real early favorite is Baltimore? :D

Weren't the Cubs the early fav for Furcal?

Meat&PotatoesMan said "If Hendry gives up Prior or Zambrano for a 30 year old SS, I'm going to be really upset. I don't think he'll do it".

---Relax, Jimbo will not do it. Prior and Zambrano are untouchables. If Hendry is unwilling to part with one of these guys for Abreu, he certainly isn't going to do it for Tejada. Baltimore can keep dreaming!
