Blue Jays GM. J.P. Ricciardi said he's not interested in the rumored Milton Bradley-for-Miguel Batista trade.

Bradley talks with the Cubs have also reportedly cooled, though they remain the favorites for the troubled outfielder. Dec. 9 - 3:46 pm et

source on this?

this is very good news for Bradley advocates. the Blue Jays turned down a player of Bradley's caliber to keep a pitcher that is less than average in every role he has played.

I don't do this often, but..

Maddux have a no trade? will he waive it to go to LA?

Maddux for Bradley, use Maddux's money to find a pitcher. either sign the best of the current crop (Millwood) or, to cut down the prospect cost, who's looking to dump a good, expensive pitcher at the end of his contract?

Source is Rotoworld.

Maddux does have a no trade clause. We're stuck with him.

I was an advocate for Bradley earlier, but this article definitely gives me pause. I didn't realize just how big that chip on this shoulder is.

"I always complain about things and start controversy because ...," Bradley says before his thought trails off. "It kind of motivates me."

It's not his alleged altercations that bother me, it's that he appears to be soooo unstable. Buyer beware.

You know what I bet happens: We sign Jaque Jones and make the playoffs because of pitching and defense and then we become torn.

You know what I bet happens: Not what you said.

Wow, I definitely think Everett's 1998 season is something Bradley could EASILY do if he was in Wrigley next year.

We need to start taking into account how good of a park this is to hit in more when we think about acquiring players. The Red Sox take advantage...why don't we? Guys like Wilkerson and Bradley, aka talented guys who could have/can be had for a fair price and would be great fits here because of this.

Oh well, I'll just hope we pick up Bradley. Wilkerson is long gone. I'd have prefered an OF of Murton, Bradley, Wilkerson over Murton, Pierre, ??? anyday.

He's an intelligent loner with a chip on his shoulder. You have to admire that spirit, even if it isn't always channeled in the right direction.

Repeated character flaws? He did what about half of baseball players would've done, he reacted when someone threw a beer bottle at them. He and his wife also got into an altercation, where both parties were at fault. If it were some terrible thing, his wife would've pressed charges at one of her 3 opportunites, including when Milton wasn't there. An outside prosecutor also declined to press charges. Lugo had the same thing happen to him a couple years ago, but no one's avoiding him for character reasons. The entire thing is overblown.

Are you a lawyer?

No, you are not. So how do you know why the prosecutor did not press charges against Bradley? There could be any no. of reasons why, including that his wife was too afraid to testify or out right refused to. You might try looking at all angles (and know what you are talking about) before making such a sweeping statement.

The Pirates are NOW offering Marte or John Grabow for Bradley...So much for the Dodgers non-tendering Bradley. I'm thinking the Cubs would have to part with Walker (Mueller is considering a 3 yr deal with the Pirates, mind you) and maybe Williams.

Wow, you should go in to politics (if you're not already). That's quite a spin.:P

I'm not ruling the guy out altogether, but I'd look a lot harder at other targets first at this point.

For the record, Bradley would be an excellent pickup for the Pirates. And if they get Mueller too, they would have a solid 1-5 of Duffy, Mueller, Casey, Bay, Bradley. He would provide OBP, a solid OF defender, and potential for big power as a LHH with the short RF porch. I actually think his history would work well with the Pirates, giving the fans here in Pittsburgh something to pay attention to during the non-football/hockey months. "When is he gonna snap, next" would be a great topic for sports talk radio.
