  1. Just another example of giving big contracts to one hit wonders on a contract year is a terrible idea.
  2. He's used Marmol 2 days in a row:13 times and his last 6 appearances have been Jul 2,3;Jul 5,6;Jul 8,9. He's used Marmol 3 days in a row: 5 times
  3. Cool site.
  4. So you're trying to tell us that Lou is using Marmol properly? Please man, anybody can tell he's been overused by him all season and now that he's feeling the effect people are overreacting? The fact is if your name isn't Howry, Marmol, or Wood you will not be pitching much. I have no problems the way Lou has been using the rotation but the way he's been using the pen is wrong, especially when you have 12-13 pitchers at a time.
  5. I would give up prospects to do it. This year's rotation: Z, Harden, Burnett, Dempster, Lilly. Next year's rotation: Z, Harden, Burnett, Lilly, Marshall We don't resign Eyre, Howry and Dempster and we should have enough to keep this guy on the roster. Btw, Eyre and Howry should not be resigned period. Howry isn't the same and Eyre is a POS. We have Ascanio, Cotts, Wuertz and Gaudin to take their spots next year in the pen.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if Beane is actively shopping Emil Brown to make room for Murton. I'm sure he's looking into options to make the A's better, does Emil have any trade value? I wonder if the Cards would go after him. He's been terrible this year so I guess not but I think Beane will try to see what he can get before he outright releases the guy.
  7. Cedeno and Pie for Burnett. Get r done Jim! :)
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if Beane is actively shopping Emil Brown to make room for Murton.
  9. No reason for Marmol to be out there, no reason. Where the heck is Wuertz?
  10. 104 pitches and counting for Cueto. You gotta love Dusty.
  11. Knee-jerk much? The two moves won't do anything of the sort. It would be MUCH worse if Marshall were relegated to his previous LOOGY role as he wouldn't be stretched out once Marquis starts to royally suck again. Chillll ETA: There was really no doubt in my mind that Marquis would keep his job over Marshall. Obviously, Marshall as the #5 is a much better option, but given the choice between the two probable outcomes, I'll take this one 8 days a week These were pretty much the points I was trying to make with my last post. For whatever reason they will not send Marquis to the pen regardless of how poorly he pitches. It's frustrating, but we just have to deal with it. If Marquis was pitching poorly enough, they'd do something about it. Unfortunately he's in that middle zone right now. Not good enough to make you feel good about being in the rotation, not poor enough to eat a lot of money for. If Hill comes up near the end of the August, they'd probably send Marquis to the pen then because of the roster expansion in September. And this time sending Marquis to the pen wouldn't have done much good. They had to demote somebody. This reminds me a lot of the Jacque Jones situation last year. It's not good business to eat several million dollars every time you have a roster crunch unless you have a player that's simply killing your ballclub. Marquis doesn't fall under that category. If it be July 31st or the offseason, they'll get somebody to take on that last year of that deal, throw in 1-2 million, and have 7 more million to play around with next season. 4.78era isn't exactly good and it's only a matter of time until he hits the 5era mark. He needs to go.
  12. I HATE Marquis! I hate that he is a Cub, I hate his mere presence on television. It's time to get rid of that overpaid pitcher who is holding the rotation down.
  13. I'll apologize when we get to the World Series.
  14. I'd rather dump Marquis, he sucks.
  15. I really hate to see Sean go. I wish him the best.
  16. Now that we have Gaudin and Harden would you guys give up Hill or Pie for Milton Bradley?
  17. I think it's time we waive or trade Marquis. Either that or you waiver Lieber. Although I have a feeling that Lou doesn't like Wuertz too much. He seems to have confidence in only Marmol, Howry and Wood from the pen.
  18. Not sure but I don't think the Cubs are going to option Cotts. He's been good for them and Hendry mentioned how Cotts has finally found his rhythm (when he was good with the WSox) out there.
  19. Harden was just on the Waddle and Silvy show and they asked him about his shoulder. He definitely hesitated with his answers but he did answer his shoulder was fine. Maybe that's the way he answers but if he was interviewing with me that would def raise a flag. I just checked his last 3 starts and his velocity is definitely down from before. The positive that I did see was against the WSox in his last start he was able to hit 96-97 again, better than his previous two starts. So maybe indeed he is just going through a dead arm period. He did mention in the interview that he was a bit tired and he wasn't trying to push it so he can make it through the season. Said that he really liked this new regimen and it's helped him stay healthy. I think it was pretty obvious that a lot of teams really liked Gallagher. Some people said his ceiling was a 3-4 and some have said up to a #2. I believe that he has shown enough at his age to think he might be able to be as good as a #2. We also did get Gaudin back who I believe can give us Lilly type numbers out of the rotation. Long story short, the Cubs had to make this trade, I commend Hendry for it because even with the ? marks with Harden the upside to this trade is so HUGE that you have to do it. Harden is one of my favorite pitchers, I love the fact that he is a Cub.
  20. He threw 95 pitches each of the last two times out. I'm guessing he might be on a leash of around 100, especially in July. He was on a 90-100 pitch count by the A's.
  21. I've been wanting him for years now. If we acquire him the offense would be incredible!
  22. I wanted Sabathia first over Harden due to injury concerns but if Harden can stay fully healthy yes, I'd rather have Harden pitching for me over Sabathia.
