  1. I agree with you 100%. Even with Peavy the Braves don't have the pieces to compete in the NL East.
  2. Defensively? Because offensively he's pretty good Ibanez to a one year deal would be OK but he's getting older. I don't expect the same type of numbers from him 1-2 years from now.
  3. Milton, Furcal and Peavy? You couldn't ask for anything better IMO.
  4. I think that's the guy they wanted from us a couple years ago when we had interest in Greene.
  5. Good to know. Thanks for the info. Do you think the chances are good that this deal goes through?
  6. I honestly don't want both Peavy and Dempster. I think what we saw from Dempster was a mirage. If we can somehow snag Peavy, we let Dempster walk because between the two it's a no-brainer who is better. As far as Wood is concerned I would like to see him signed if the price is right. Are we confident Samardjiza can handle the 8th inning role? I wonder if the Cubs think Andrew Cashner is ready to at least fill in the 7th or 8th inning role for us. He could be the wild card in our bullpen next year. I almost forgot about Ceda. He's another guy we might need to lean on. Shark,Cashner,Ceda.

  8. Those two moves would be huge.
  9. If we can get those 3 guys I would go nuts.
  10. Giambi is also going to be 38 next year. Considering his age, I fully expect his numbers to nose dive next year.
  11. Why get older at 1B? Getting Giambi to replace Lee makes no sense to me.
  12. If Dempster can't be resigned and Peavy cannot be acquired I would be OK with trading for Vazquez. He has only 2 years left on his deal.
  13. Looks like Demp wants to test the FA market. I say we let him walk. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8748676/Dempster-plans-to-test-open-market?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=49
  14. I think it's going to cost us Vitters if we want Peavy. They are not going to give us Peavy for nothing.
  15. Dempster is a good guy but if we pay him 12-14mil per year we are going to regret it.
  16. What influence has Blanco had on Soto? Soto figured it out in the minors before coming to the Cubs.
  17. One of the funniest things I seen on TV was Macha trying to kick open the bathroom door because Blanton was stuck in there. Hilarious. I wish I can find it online to watch that again. Per KFFL: Athletics.MLB.com's Mychael Urban reports Oakland Athletics manager Ken Macha, who is two tests from becoming a first-degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do, had to kick open the door to the dugout bathroom Monday, Sept. 5. SP Joe Blanton had gone inside and kicked the door out of shape in anger of his loss, and Macha kicked the door open to rescue him.
  18. I hate to believe that this will happen but I have a bad feeling there's a good chance it will.
  19. If you are going to give so much money to Dunn to play 1B, I would front a little more cash and get Tex.
  20. My first choice would be Bradley.
  21. Hughes getting injured is a plus for the team. If I was in charge of the Bulls I would pay Hughes to stay home and not come back. I would not buy him out though because in 2 years we would have a HUGE amount of money to spend on a top tier FA.
  22. Manny is also 36 years old. How many good years does he really have left in him? I'm thinking 1-2 MAX. No thanks on Manny. We should have got him years ago when he was available through waivers, not now when he's 36.
