  1. If we're going to give 4/52 I think I'd rather see us sign Sheets or Burnett instead.
  2. So much for Peavy. I don't like the move personally, especially if it's for a 4 or 5 yr deal.
  3. lol What's funny about that? Affeldt is a good RP. I would have liked him here.
  4. Then you haven't seen Konerko run. :)
  5. People really need to stop suggesting this as a possiblility. The Padres don't want a 5M mediocrity as their closer. So Hendry sees Gregg as a solid reliever for the price who has closed for two years but people around the league wouldnt? I have a really hard time believing that. Padres are cutting payroll. They are even offering up their ace to teams what does that tell you? They pulled the 4-6mil offer to Hoffman so why he heck would they want Gregg for slightly less that amount? Gregg will make at least 3 mil and maybe closer to 4mil next year.
  6. Wood at 3/24 would still be a better bet than Demp at 4/55. At least Wood has had more than one season of success in his career. I don't think Wood wants 3 years though, he wants 4 or 5, plus $8 million is too much for a 1 inning guy IMO. If he got paid 8mil thiis because of his incentives I bet you he is asking for at least 10-12 million. Wood was awesome when healthy here in Chicago but we've seen this before. He's an injury risk waiting to happen, no way would i give him 4yr 10-12 mil a year.
  7. Jesse Rogers is a sensationalist hack. He's not the only one reporting it though. Looks like Wood is done here. Either Wood had crazy demands or Hendry got the word from upstairs to not sign free agents.
  8. Jesse Rogers on the radio is now saying he's hearing that Hendry said Wood is done in Chicago and that's why the trade was made.
  9. No pics yet. I may not have to. I did offer a secondary source with time stamped information that corroborates my story and goes into a little more detail. I'm not sure if he used that or just read my story and took that for what it is worth (admittedly not very much, unless you just believe me). So long story short you think that Peavy will end up being a Cub?
  10. I don't care if Bradley is fragile. He's my #1 option for RF. If we had to deal with Fukudome for 2/3 of the season slumping real bad we can handle 1/3 of the season not having Bradley available due to a minor injury. The upgrade to this offense would be huge with him.
  11. According to this article Williams might be making Dye available this offseason. I'd rather have him over Ibanez and his contract isn't bad. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/chi-13-white-sox-chicagonov13,0,7366873.story
  12. ibanez is only athletic in the sense that he is a professional athlete. Here's to hoping Hendry can "wow" the Marlins for Hermida because, there's no benefit to wasting money on Ibanez. ibanez is second on my list after hermida...he has solid numbers and would really bring some solid production to the lineup...i don't understand the dislike for ibanez His age. i can understand that, but who else would you rather have besides him? realistically Realistically, in order: Bradley and then Hermida. I really like Bradley and to me a perfect offseason would be to get: Bradley or Hermida, Furcal and Peavy. I would be thrilled get those guys even though it's probably unlikely.

  14. This sounds more believable regarding the Cubs situation.
  15. I'd take the risk on Sheets over Dempster but I probably wouldn't sign Sheets to more than a 3yr deal.
  16. Considering Peavy has no trade rights and only two teams are interested to trade for him that he would waive his right for, Josh Vitters, Wellington Castillo and Sean Marshall is a good package for the Padres IMO. Vitters is good.
  17. That's hilarious. I had to go over there just to see it for myself.
  18. That blog is pure garbage. I don't even attempt to read it anymore.
  19. Except it doesn't mention anything about Greene. I'd piss my pants and dance a jig if it happens though. I know it doesn't but I can see something like that happening.
  20. Maybe this guy's sources aren't good but the deal does make sense. Greene and Peavy for Pie, Marshall, and Theriot. Greene's production was terrible last year and he is due to make 6.5 mil. Padres are looking to offload salary so I can see a deal like this take place.
  21. I have no idea the source. If that's true, then it also means one of three things: a) they think Ronny is ready to finally be a starter (unlikely, if Lou is in the equation) b) they think Fontenot can handle SS everyday (possibly, his defense is only slightly worse than Theriots at the position, and they thought Theriot was passable), or c) They're going to get another SS. Could it be Greene or Furcal? If it's Furcal, then I have a hard time seeing them resign Dempster. Considering they already upped their offer and have expressed they really want to keep him, I think it means Furcal is not in the plans, which is surprising considering how they want a real leadoff hitter and Hendry has shown a strong desire for him in the past. It also means they're finally selling high on someone (Theriot). When is the last time they did that? I can't ever recall... It's too good to be true! If that goes through that would set us up for signing Furcal who would be a significant upgrade to Theriot. I really really want Peavy, Furcal and Bradley. I think getting those 3 will fix out playoff woes.
  22. Is Escobar that good? I look at his numbers and they don't look that great.
