  1. No for the first couple of months he was with the Cubs he was touching mid 90's on a regular basis. Then toward the end of the season he wasn't hitting any higher than 91-92. That's when he started walking a ton of guys and wasn't missing as many bats. There's definitely cause for concern. His last 3 games (including playoffs) as you said he walked a lot of guys and wasn't getting as many K's as before. I'm sure it's as simple as making adjustment but I'm not expecting ace type stuff like in the past any more. If it happens nice but we'll see how it plays out when the season begins.
  2. I don't know what to expect from Harden with his velocity being around 92mph. I'm sure he can make adjustments with his loss of velocity but I'm not expecting an ace-type (when healthy) pitcher any more.
  3. I'm actually really glad they picked up another tackle because I don't feel we should draft an offensive line position with our first 2 picks. We need a WR, Safety and DE. I'm willing to give up this years first and next year's first for Cutler btw. It's a move the Bears should try almost anything to make.
  4. I wonder if Hill's hand injury will cause problems for him to throw out basestealers? Anyone know if they've tried to run on him yet?
  5. I'm starting to think we might be better off Starting Hoff over Lee on a daily basis. I doubt it happens this year though.
  6. Why? He wasn't going to be an amazing kick returner forever. And you don't build longterm success via the return game. The Bears were in desperate need of WR talent, and Hester was one of the few options they had. Because he had A LOT more value as a returner. I personally don't think he has the WR skills to be a true #1 WR anyway.
  7. The Bears never should've moved Hester away from PR/KR in the first place.
  8. With so much time left in spring training is it a good idea to already stretch them out to 5 innings?
  9. Yup at home this team is completely different. I dont know what it is and apparently they dont either, cause they are horrific on the road. Coaching is the only logical explanation. Del Negro doesn't get this team up when they face teams that they should handle easily. Although I do believe the coaching is horrible I also think talent evaluation good and bad have a lot to do with it as well.
  10. Most of the money in the deal is in the first year of the contract. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/03/dollars_and_sense_the_frank_om.html
  11. It's not like they gave him much money. He's getting paid 6.3 million this season so yeah they did give him a good amount of money.
  12. Looks like Omiyale has moved in as the starting RT for us already. No surprise there with the amount of money they gave him. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/huddleup/2009/03/frank-omiyale-now-at-right-tackle.html
  13. Let's face it, what a slap in the face to Bears fans this offseason has been in my opinion. I can understand that there were only a handful of good free agents available but with so many glaring holes on this team the best we can do is sign the worst safety in the past couple of years who might start and an offensive line player who only started 1-2 games in the NFL? I would've felt better if we signed one of the better safeties available. I know the draft hasn't taken place yet but with so many holes on this team the draft won't be enough.
  14. It's funny seeing Salmons be the player for us that Deng was supposed to be and at a fraction of the cost. I really hope that we never see Deng again in a Bulls uniform that overpaid bum.
  15. K Hill 2run shot he's 3-3. I'd rather see him take the backup job over Bako.
  16. I just don't want to see Fox and Vizcaino make the roster.
  17. I'm hoping someone will be able to report what his velocity will be.
  18. I don't think he will be able to be as good as he was last year for an entire season but if by some chance he can be we won't miss DeRo much at 2B. That's not to say that DeRo didn't have more value as a super sub but offensive numbers is what I'm talking about.
  19. I don't see why the A's would like a bum like Vizcaino but I would like to see this trade take place. Two reasons: 1. They have 1 SS too many. 2. We have better options for the bullpen. They would be trading 1 high-priced bum for another plus they get a prospect. Hopefully it would be a low-level prospect. Just saw on MLBTR: Speaking of Crosby, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune wonders if the Cubs could work out a deal involving reliever Luis Vizcaino. Despite the $4MM owed to Vizcaino, he's not a lock for the Cubs' bullpen. We learned last week that the Cubs do not appear interested in Crosby. Yes, but they probably have better options in the bullpen too. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that some team who has SS needs might value Crosby. I just don't see th A's pursuing a Viz for Crosby swap.
  20. I don't see why the A's would like a bum like Vizcaino but I would like to see this trade take place.
  21. Guzman threw 97mph at one point today. Good to see.
  22. Hopefully he will be good enough to take over for Lee.
  23. Well Manny is not getting a 4 yr deal. Any team would be foolish to give him that. However, he does have the choice to retire or stay at home if he wants.
  24. I like that lineup.
