  1. They're keeping their fine record up against the Angels too... :D
  2. They haven't played atlanta either...
  3. Living here in St. Louis I get into a lot of these discussions...here is something interesting from an e-mail chain I was in today: Did you know…your (St.Louis) record against teams that are currently over .500 is 3-14. That's pretty telling. The Cubs are 15-17. That tells me two things…you guys have been awful against good teams, and the Cubs have had a MUCH tougher schedule to date… We've (Cubs) played 32 of our 58 games against winning teams… you (Cards) guys have played 17 of your 57 games against winning teams… Is there reason for optimism to be found in those numbers?
  4. http://www.benmaller.com/mlb_rumors_notes#144630 if we could get Miller for Z id be as giddy as a schoolboy. probably not worth posting but i need some good news in a bad day for the cubs I must have missed something...why was yesterday a bad day for the Cubs? Meph wasn't a big fan of the players drafted by the Cubs yesterday-hence the use of the bad day. Thanks...I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss a Wood/Prior double arm amputation or something..

  6. Maybe...but I'm a consistency guy...I like the idea of a regular line up...and with the players available I like this one.
  7. Agree..Great lineup...(now watch us stink)
  8. Marmol coming in now Thank God. Considering how he's pitched so far this year...I dont' want to see many if any 115+ outtings by Z. That being said...if he's gonna throw like this...he should have punched Barrett 2 months ago.
  9. Four days ago. His next scheduled start for Tennessee would have been tomorrow, which is also Zambrano's next scheduled start for the Cubs. Coincidence or not remains to be seen. Yeah, but didn't his father said that the family was going to Atlanta for the weekend? *shrug* Maybe they just live closer to Atlanta? His start and Z's start being the same day is awfuly coincidental.
  10. So you're Sean's Parent?!? Congrats! to Sean, and to the family...that is awsome.
  11. QFT... I'm assuming this is Sean Gallagher right? Who gets sent down? Is this a trade precursor?
  12. too bad for them there were more Cubs fans there last night and i expect more of the same tonight Yeah...you could hear the crowd erupt when Fonzi hit that shot....almost as loud as if it were in Wrigley.
  13. I'm sure this has been mentioned ad nauseum some where...but would anyone really be against trading Z for solid prospects this year at the deadline with the assumption that we would use that $$ to assist in landing A-Rod for short when he opts out next year? Sure...the rotation would be weakened...but I think Marshall, Hill, Lilly, Marquis et al could still put up solid numbers...especially with that offense.
  14. Don't have to "remember". Look no farther than SS and you sorta get a deja vu tingling sensation. Ha. Never thought I'd wish for Shawon Dunston as much as I do now. Yeah...back in 88 did anyone think he'd have been in the conversation when talking about the most consistent hitting short stops the Cubs would have over the next 20 years?
  15. In the long shot hope of getting the thread somewhat back on track...has there been a Bruce Signal sent up recently? It sure would be nice to get something other than the "there was a meeting" nuggets you get on the Trib...
  16. Take it back...TAKE IT BACK
  17. I was hoping you were going to say "More Cowbell"
  18. October....when the season is over. this season will be over LONG before October.
  19. If the Cubs win a game by September...will anyone notice...
  20. So I was thinking...I should likely change the title of this thread to... If the Brewers play .500 from here on out they'll beat us by 35 games....
  21. Bad hire...Eyre's 6.25 EPA (eaten pizza average) will kill the business
  22. I can say for sure that he would come back to kill us.
  23. Ahh...usefulness! (ignoring the fact that he's got the 2nd most HRs and RBIs on the team)...
  24. I'm sorry...I'd never live it down here in STL if he just quit...but that would be funny...and so representative of what Cubs fans feel like doing, but never really can bring themselves to do.
  25. I've been meaning to post a topic on this for a few days and keep forgeting...we've done this several times this year...twice in the last week...each time resulting in a loss. Am I the only one who HATES it when we do this? Our pitchers can barely throw strikes the way it is...why on earth do you set them up for this failure...and let the hitters KNOW they are going to get a good pitch...I don't care who's up really....or how many outs...I hate it when we do this.... Thoughts?
