  2. He's making 3 mil...anyone know how long hes under contract for?
  3. I don't think they count as mediocre anymore. I think they are just bad at this point. When you lose 2 out of 3 to the worst team in the majors...yeah, you're just plain bad.
  4. How is it that the Rangers have 4 at bats all day with RISP and they get 2 hits...one coming from a guy who hits .195...and we have damn near 20 at bats and get like 1 hit.
  5. I don't understand why Lou would try and use any of them every day. Theriot has been as bad as any Cubs hitter has been for the past two weeks. He can't play everyday. He's still better than Isturiz...
  6. Why...with his speed...wasn't Pie going very early in that at bat to avoid just what happened?
  7. I'd even take Sammy for Jones at this point...anything really
  8. "Can we be fwends?" "Kay." ":D" "I've spent the last few years in Chicago building up an immunity to Iocane powder. " Inconcievable!
  9. Hernandez is a Red or a Cardinal in 5, 4, 3, 2.....
  10. I just wanted to say that this really is the best question to ask about the guy... What...Mom wanted Kyle, Dad wanted Tyler? I hate new made up names.... How about naming the kid Tyle? Think his girlfriend would talk about laying tile? (I know...Iknow...family board)
  11. Personally I wouldn't call this pure anger. If you ask me, it was one of the calmest trade threads ever on this board. Most people were resigned to the fact Barrett was going, not a lot of people are ecstatic about the deal, but there's only been a couple people who've gone ballistic. Bowen's been a mediocre producing catcher in his pro career who is having a good 2007 but probably won't sustain the numbers. He'd be a nice cheap backup for a team with a good starter, but he's probably not starter material himself, at least in the long haul, but he'll be stable defensively. The kid whose parents were desperate for a name that started with K has some physical ability but hasn't done jack squat as a pro (600 OPS in rookie ball and sub 600 in low A ball). beautiful.................. I just figured Mom and Dad were fighting over Kyle and Tyler....

  13. He's clearly over his head...the Padres were rushing him. I'd like to see how he'd do at short-season. That's kinda my point...give him a chance at the right level and see what he can do...if he sucks..eh..so be it...but throwing him in over his head and saying "see...he can't do it"...well, I don't think that's fair.
  14. How do you feel about Adam Dunn? I love Adam Dunn. Why do you ask? Are you trying to equate Kyler with Dunn? Just saying he's struck out a lot more times than games played (94Ks in 70 games)...so I guess he's abysmal too. No you are attempting to make a really bad compairson between one of the best hitters in MLB and a 19 year old who can't hold his own in low A ball. Not at all...nowhere have I ever said that he's Adam dunn...you just made a blanket statement that "Striking out more times than the number of games you've appeaed in is abysmal." (that's a direct quote)...and I just thougth it worthy of note that that's not always correct...and that just measuring # of Ks is not a good way to evaluate a guy. It is when he's also sporting these numbers .211/.305/.268/.572 Well...when you say that...its better. I still say if the kid is 19 and one year removed from the draft it doesn't hurt to give him a chance...there is a reason he got drafted so high, and some kids take some time to adjust to being away from home...who knows...he's not worth getting upset about and has a chance to be pretty good.
  15. Hmmm...If he's really good from the left side...doesn't that allow for getting rid of Jones easier? He can be the catcher against lefties...Soto against righties.

  18. How do you feel about Adam Dunn?
  19. His numbers are more of the problem than the Twins willingness to move him. True...but they "seem" to be improving...a year ago this board would have been happy to add a .370 OBP no matter where it came from...if he's a lot better behind the plate, I think I like this trade.
  20. We've traded Barrett for Rob Bowen and Kyler Burke. Rob Bowen is a backup C who was a nice prospect for the Twins about five years ago, but he's sorta flamed out... Still only 26 though. And he does have a nice walk rate with about average power. Problem is that he can't make any contact. And, ironically enough, depending on which metric is looked at, he might be worse defensively than Barrett (though no scouting reports back this up). Kyler Burke is a 19 year old right fielder in A ball who was drafted in the supplemental round last year (35th overall). He's about as toolsy as they come, but he hasn't put up anything even resembling good numbers (aside from his walk rate). His arm is strong enough that if he continues to flame out, he can be converted to a reliever. There's also money involved, but conflicting reports of who the money is going to. Though it has to be assumed it's going to the Padres. Considering who the Twins had blocking him at Catcher...I don't know that their willingness to move him necessarily makes him a flame out.
  21. So, assuming we pay all of the remaining on the new guys 300K, we clear up approx 800K in salary....not exactly A-Rod savings.
  22. I thought Petco favored the right-handed batter? I could be wrong, but I don't think that park favors any batters...I always thought it was a blatant pitchers park.
