    Not sure why...but this smells like a showcase to me...he obviously helps fill the DLee void, but if it wasn't a showcase move I think they'd not burn his option...

    I have a friend in Dallas Texas (not sure how the heck he'd have heard it or why their radio would care) who said that the local radio down there was indicating that the Cubs were working hard for Griffey...that the Reds asked for Pie and the Cubs countered with Jones and 3 other minor leaguers (not sure who those minor leaugers were)...take it for what its worth... I think the Pie suggestion is pretty laughable....but Jones and some minor leaguers, depending on who they are, thats a doable trade.

    I watched Baseball tonight last night...Kruck actually inferred he thought Barry didn't start b/c he didn't like ESPN's reporters and didn't want to help ESPN by playing in games they televised.

    Getting worse every year. So is mine...but what does "getting worse" mean...I assume he's still better than Barrett was... He doesn't have have the same pop time as before, hasn't been too good at blocking balls, just isn't prone to dumb mistakes like Barrett. I should also include he has a big pair, mentally tough, and a good teammate. If Perry can correct what has gone wrong and it isn't age, he can valuable. But as I said earlier he has gone from avg. to bad defensively. Then I like the deal...maybe alot...even if he only puts up the awful putrid numbers he has so far its better offensively than what we've got from Hill/Bowen/Soto...if he can put up a solid OBP in the 2nd half I could really care less what his OPS or Slugging or ISODPDICRI is....if he gets on at a .340 pace it improves us about .100 points over what we were getting....and we gave up basically nothing....and are only spending a few more million, and thats only for this year....I think Hendry did a good job.

    Looks like Kendall had a solid June...and has been great in the OBP department his entire career...if he can catch a decent game, and can put up a .330+ OBP he's better than what we had and I like giving Soto a year as a back up....color me not too upset.

    60 day DL Wasn't that just a roster space move for their recent trade?...retroactive to when he went on the DL when could he come off the 60? He hasn't played since april 29 so he's already been on the DL for more than 60 days, unless he's had a setback the Royals Web page said he'd be ready this week.... I'll be damned, looks like he'll be activated today So I add him at or near the top of our list of targets...he should come fairly cheap (mediocre A ball prospect), won't cost much $$, is at the end of his K so no future commitment, and could be very productive in the spots we need him at as well as an additional solid bat off the bench.

    How about Reggie Sanders? He's got great numbers, should come cheap, and if he can show he's healthy over the next 2 weeks would be a great addition to RF/Bench.
