not true...I care....I hate seeing the Brewers win...its very frustrating to have the Cubs play this well and not see a ton of gain in the standings.

WHERE? They exist? I've never seen one in captivity (marriage)...that would be a rare beast indeed.

We didn't really gain any ground on Milwaukee though. No, but I think we've jumped 3 teams in the Wild Card race...and that's saying something....

(Insert obligatory post about reviving old posts) 11-5 since this thread was posted....if we hadn started that out 2-4 we'd be in even better shape....the 3 weeks isn't over...but we've got a good start on it.

Who is the Nats younger anouncer? (TV, MLB EI Package) There sounds like an old guy and a younger guy that I know I've heard before I just can't place where and its killing me...

I think hes stuck on the bench for the foreseeable future until he has a good game or two. :( Tough to have a good game from the bench. Tough to develop when you're on the bench too. I like Pie as much as the next guy...however...if we continue to streak w/him on the bench...I'll live with it...as long as he's keeping his buddy Fonzie company, the Cubs are winning, and he's a defensive replacement/pinch runner...I can live with that...its not optimal...but I just want to win right now.

Don't forget we are chasing Arizona in the WC race (sorta) True enough...however...I'll start worrying about hoping the WC teams lose more when the birds are 6-7 games behind us....3 is still too close for comfort as far as I'm concerned.

2nd Inning.... Cubs/Cards game at Old Busch (circ 1998)...we score once in the first inning and my buddy and I were being obnoxious about how were were going to kick their arse....they proceed to score something like 5 in the bottom of the first, shut us out in the top of the 2nd, and then score 6 in the bottom of the 2nd...(on their way to scoring in every inning of the game...An MLB First at the time I'm pretty sure)....maybe it was cowardly...but after the smack we talked...and the beating we were taking 11-1 at the time we left...watching the rest at the Bar seemed like the logical thing to do. (we did watch the rest of the game, if that counts for anything) -
I also like the Cards' upcoming schedule: Arizona 8:10 PM Looper (6-6) Webb (8-5) Arizona 8:10 PM Wellemeyer (2-1) Johnson (4-3) Arizona 7:15 PM Thompson (6-3) Hernandez (5-5) Arizona 7:15 PM Wainwright (6-7) Davis (5-9) San Francisco 8:10 PM Maroth (5-2) Lowry (8-6) San Francisco 7:15 PM Looper (6-6) Lincecum (3-2) San Francisco 2:15 PM Wellemeyer (2-1) Zito (6-8) I wouldn't imagine they are the favorite going into ANY of those games...

I think a better reason would be because you dont want to see Z throw in a meaningless game when we have a lot of important ones coming up....that being said...I still hope he makes it. (edited for clarifcation)

Yeah, I dont see us sweeping this series. Mainly because we've already won 6 in a row, and that would mean winning 9 in a row...and I dont think that's gonna happen. BUT, that being said, we have every capability of doing so, with how well we've been playing recently. We MUST take 2/3. Im nervous. Yup...its a playoff series...or feels like it....we need to win.

If we'd sweep this series it would be incredible...however, I'll settle for a win...we just CAN"T lose ground on them after our recent run...I'm also rooting for Cincy to Sweep St. Louis...I want to see them even further back...they stink...but with Carpenter coming back soon I want them a long way behind us...

I hope you're prepared. This site is known for knowledgeable, rational, level headed fans that stray away from knee-jerk reactions....but yeah...all that goes right to hell in game threads. Especially during a big series like this :-) Or when we win...(or lose) more than one game in a row.... :D

If he can produce offensively this is a great idea. Then we cut Jones and bring up a reliever (Prinz, Piggy, Bailey, Cherry) and call it a day.

Per the Score, he's likely to be traded before tonight's first pitch. \:D/ Didn't they say 50/50 yesterday? And that something would probably get done over the weekend? They're just slowly escalating the probabilities to drag this thing out. They'd better trade Jacques soon, if they're going to. Yeah, exactly. But still...SWEET GOD I HOPE SO. I want nothing to do with jones. He did score a fairly important run last night...I know...he did nothing to actually get on...but I do have to say he served a purpose last night.
