  1. I'd start Barrett over Bard, why would Barrett be the backup? Even if he does start over Bard, his offensive numbers this year are not that much better...even if you start him, considering defense and money is he really a 4.2 million (and a prospect) improvement over what they had?
  2. From the other side of the fence...why on earth does San Diego do this deal? They trade a solid backup making 300K for a guy making 4.5 who will in all likely hood be their backup...or at least isn't "that" much better than their current 1mil per year starter...it doesn't make sense to me...what do they get out of this deal? A little more power? Barrett's Power #s will go down in that park...
  3. Something I've noticed with Hill(and presumably all good defensive catchers) as opposed to Barrett(and the broadcast pointed it out quite a bit as well) is that he seems to "frame" pitches better than Barrett ever did... if that gets our pitchers 3-5 more strike calls at the right time during a game that could be a big deal...and has nothing to do with "calling" the game...but is really something that you can't "measure"
  4. Has it been noted that this might mean something re: Hendry? Barrett was a love child of his a few years ago...not he ships him out...is there anything to be read into that?
  5. I'm going to go on record as saying I like this deal....maybe a lot. Good OBP, Good defense, cheap...we get $$...and a prospect...I like it.
  6. I'll cheer as long as it is not outcome determantive in a game against the Cubs.
  7. I doubt it. The Cardinals have lost their magic. The lack of talent has finally caught up with them. I thought so too...then I looked at their runs scored differential...considering their injuries and the fact that they are being outscored by more than 70 runs this year..its "magical" that they are anywhere but in dead last place in the division.
  8. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6938656 scrap heap help...again....
  9. Any word on when we're supposed to hear what DLee will get for this?
  10. Have at it. But if you put it on a t-shirt and it sells, I want 50%. You are attributing WAY too much motivation to me...
  11. Another Fonte-Yes! (Used with presupposed permission)
  12. Very strong effort there by the way...I like it.
  13. Anyone else also have this game up on CBS Sportsline's gamecenter? Is it just me or do the Padres have a HUGE bench? what's up with that? If they've got a 5 man rotation that means they can only have like 2 guys in their pen if they've only got a 25 man roster.
  14. Damn....could have used a HR There...win this one Lou!
  15. All things considered...that lineup will work.
  16. Crap...we face a lot of bad pitchers...we're doomed.
  17. Playoffs? If the Cardinals make the playoffs with a rotation of Thompson, Wells, Looper, Wainwright and I don't remember who their 5th guy is, I might give up baseball forever. Wellemeyer... But of course word on the street here is that Carpenter picked up a baseball at somepoint in the last week...so they are fairly sure he'll be back to Cy young form by mid July....
  18. Holy crap, do you need to go to a school with better looking women. if that's not the worst picture ever, she's a 3 in good health She appears to have a pretty good body though...I'd hit it. QFT... And at midnight/1:00 a.m. I'm guessing she reaches 7-8 status.
  19. I was just looking at the schedule and the Cubs are in a position to have a nice run of it...we play 3 against San Diego at home...and miss Jake Peavey...we then go to Texas, who has been the worst team in baseball and play the White Sox who are also struggling (but, as they say, you can throw the records out there...)...we then get Colorado and the Brewers at home and go to the Nationals and Pirates before the all Star break... I think we really have a chance to make some hay over the next 3 weeks...but I also think that if we lose ground in that time span, its time to blow it up... (The Cards play Oakland, KC, Mets, Reds, Arizona, and San Fran) (Brewers play Twins, San Fran, KC, Houston, Cubs, Pitts, and Washington)
  20. Why isn't he at the ML Level again?
  21. One of my absolute favorite things is that he stretched thier bull pen before the Oakland series...and Looper who goes tonight has already pitched more innings than he has in 4 years...and is 5 innings away from having pitched more innings than he ever has in his entire career...and, as Harbosky said last night..."Looked tired" his last two outings...
